When Josh Strickland takes the stage in the current Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) production of “Tarzan: The Broadway Musical,” he is in his familiar place in the center spotlight, playing the show’s title role which he originated on Broadway.

Josh Strickland originated the title role in Disney’s TARZAN on Broadway in 2006 and has since been the iconic voice of the character as the musical has lived on through the fan favorite cast album and licensing around the world. Now the star returns to TARZAN through October 21, 2023 at Tuacahn.  Josh Strickland happily sat down with BroadwayWorld near the Tuacahn Amphitheatre to discuss his long association with the show from audition to Broadway to Germany, and now in what he calls his “last hurrah” at Tuacahn.

Josh Strickland, who originated the role of Tarzan on Broadway and appears on the original cast recording, leads Disney’s TARZAN at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre.  The entire production lives up to its star with a heightened reality that equals the euphoria conjured by such an unparalleled opportunity.

With music and lyrics by Genesis drummer and singer Phil Collins, Tarzan is based on the 1999 Disney film and staged by Laughing Horse Productions at the Koorliny Arts Centre.

Set in the current COVID-19 pandemic, this outrageous comedy follows Jane to the African Jungle where she meets and falls in love with the spectacular specimen we all know as the legendary Tarzan.

A new seven-part miniseries, titled THE DESTRUCTION OF JANE, is set to debut this month inspired by the infamous film TARZAN THE APE MAN, starring Bo Derek and Miles O’Keefe. The new miniseries is an unauthorized parody told from the point of view of Miss Jane Parker, and will begin weekly installments on Thursday, April 29 at 8 a.m. on YouTube.

Alexander Hamilton High School has canceled auditions for Tarzan, amid racism concerns. It will now stage the Shakespeare in the Park musical adaptation of 'Twelfth Night,' in its place.
