Syracuse Stage has revealed its 2026/27 season, featuring acclaimed comedies, contemporary dramas, exciting producing partnerships and two world premieres.

Virginia Stage Company will bring back its annual Christmas tradition with a bit of new spirit in the form of a riveting adaptation of A Merry Little Christmas Carol. The new retelling of the Dickens Christmas tale, written by The Hound of the Baskervilles' director Mark Shanahan, will bring its holiday cheer to the Historic Wells Theatre.

At the Table: A Play Reading Series has released its February play, Losing my Religion (in 140 characters or less) by Hannah C. Langley (USC - Dramatic Writing MFA Candidate). This podcast provides emerging playwrights a brand-new platform to present their work in an accessible, polished format featuring professional actors and immersive sound design and music. Previous episodes have included work by Chisa Hutchinson (Somebody's Daughter at Second Stage), Dustin Sullivan (Eugene O'Neill Award Finalist), and Diana Oh ({my lingerie play}).

Capathia Jenkins (Newsies, Caroline or Change) will take on the role of Mrs. Hudson for the July 17 th concert at the Highline Ballroom in NYC.

I'm always cautiously optimistic in seeing a regional production of Jonathan Larson's Rent as I am a Renthead of MANY years. The thing to remember, obviously, is art has different interpretations. It is interesting to see the different elucidations of the choreography, the varied choices the actors make, the Director's vision, et cetera. I can proudly say that The Gateway Playhouse's incarnation of the Tony and Pulitzer winner, which is kicking off a very busy Summer season for the darling Bellport venue, does not disappoint.
