The St. Pete theatre company's 2023/2024 lineup is full of contemporary shows, and one classic - Disney's Beauty and the Beast musical - that audiences will enjoy in Demens Landing Park. 

The event aims to showcase BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA individuals and relevant themes, giving a stage to voices that may be missing from the theatre's mainstage season. American Stage partnered with James Museum as they are strongly interested in indigenous land and culture preservation. As a part of American Stage's and the James Museum's commitment to diverse voices, each year, at least one playwright featured in the festival will be an indigenous artist.

When American Stage put out a call for emerging playwrights to submit their never-before-produced scripts, the submission box was flooded with more than 200 entries.  This February, it has been narrowed  down to six plays, all ranging from queer dramas to historical pieces.

Imagination Stage™, the metro DC region’s largest professional theatre for young audiences, announced its six shows for 2022-2023, which include two newly-commissioned world premieres, two musicals based on popular books, and two favorites especially for the very youngest theatre-goers. 

ReImagine: New Plays in TYA, a groundbreaking initiative to support the development and visibility of new works for young audiences written by artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), announced today that each of the awarded playwrights of 8 compelling new projects have selected host theatres for developmental workshops to take place this fall.

In the fall of 2020 Rorschach Theatre launched an unprecedented project for unprecedented times, sending subscribers on self-guided urban adventures as a story unfolded around them.  Now, ten months later, with more than 400 participants hailing from 18 states and three different countries, the story will conclude with a live outdoor performance this July.

Imagination Stage is an institution of the DC/MD theatre community and has been bringing theatre to children and audiences alike for over 40 years. With their new production of ‘Spy Academy & The Lost Treasure of Atlantis’ Imagination stage brings interactive theatre directly into the household. Children ages 5+ are invited to participate in an online interactive adventure where they assist Spy Team 7 with a series of puzzles and decisions to help retrieve the heart of the dragon from the wicked Dr. Levinious. Before showtime, adults are instructed in secret, to put together a few household items as well as printing out an instruction packet as props to be used in the interactive performance.

Imagination Stage meets this unique moment with Spy Academy & the Lost Treasure of Atlantis, an immersive online experience for children ages 5+. The show – part escape room, part spy adventure, and part online game – engages children in an interactive performance as meaningful as it is delightful.

From Saturday, December 18 through Sunday, December 27, the Hangar Theatre Company will host a virtual experience, Seasonal Story Jam & Hootenanny. This family-friendly event features holiday music from The Burns Sisters streamed from the Hangar Theatre & Hangar artists performing a variety of both classic and contemporary short stories and poems.

After two decades of innovative and imaginative uses of space, Rorschach Theatre blows past the theatre walls and presents a season-long immersive experience that will send audiences into carefully curated corners of the Nation's capital and beyond. Rorschach has leveraged the unprecedented circumstances of the 20-21 Season to bring participants an unprecedented theatrical experience.

Today, ABC announced premiere dates for its scripted drama series slate, rounding out the network’s fall schedule. Dates for unscripted and comedy series were previously announced.

ABC has given a full-season order to Wednesday night comedy “Schooled,” Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment, announced today. The additional order brings the season total to 22 episodes for “Schooled,” the “The Goldbergs” spinoff, in its sophomore season on the network. The series is from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios.

The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills will take visitors back in time for its exclusive new exhibit celebrating the fashion from The Goldbergs and Schooled. The Goldbergs & Schooled Rewind! will immerse visitors into all the nostalgic fun of two acclaimed series, set in two of the most fashion-driven eras in pop-culture history. The exhibit is free and is open to the public from October 16 - November 17, and will kick off with a special preview launch event with the cast and creative team of The Goldbergs on October 15.

Deadline reports that a new comedy from Tad Quill and Doug Robinson has been given a a script commitment at ABC. The series is called 'This Is Not A Drill.'

The Goldbergs are back and it's gonna be an epic year for everyone's favorite '80s family. Meddling mama Beverly is thrilled all her schmoos are back under the same roof. It gives her one last shot at smothering like the old days while delightfully grumpy dad Murray weighs the costly snap-decisions of his moron kids. Temperamental middle child and groom-to-be Barry is psyched to top off his legendary year by marrying the love of his life, Lainey Lewis, who's back in town and amping up to join one of the zaniest families on the block. Meanwhile, oldest sister Erica dropped out of college to pursue her lifelong dream of rock stardom. The only catch is now she has to chase that dream under the same roof she grew up in and so recently escaped. One person thrilled Erica's back is her lovable, dopey, doting boyfriend, Geoff Schwartz. This year, Adam finds himself settling into his geeky identity in high school, while navigating life in the midst of all the chaos at home. Naturally, all the family adventures will be captured on Adam's VHS camera.
