The musical Tootsie, now playing at the National Theater in Washington, DC, has exceptionally good intentions and flashes of show-biz brio but it tries to do too many disparate things at once. Of course, the cultural zeitgeist of the brilliant film is pervasive in the “mind’s eye” but that should ideally be of little concern with a musical that veers into making differing choices appropriate for the stage.

The Minnesota premiere of ANASTASIA, the new Broadway musical, opens for two weeks at the historic Orpheum Theatre (910 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis) and runs through Sunday, 19, 2021.

TOOTSIE, the hilarious Tony Award-winning musical, is coming to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale for a limited two-week engagement from January 11 - 23, 2022.

The North American tour of Lincoln Center Theater's critically acclaimed production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY will be a part of Seattle's 2021-2022 Broadway season. Directed by Bartlett Sher, the North American tour will play The Paramount Theatre from Tuesday, December 28 through Sunday, January 2, 2022. 

State Theatre New Jersey presents ANASTASIA - The New Broadway Musical on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 8pm; Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 1pm. Tickets range from $40-$98.  

The Tony-nominated Lincoln Center production of the classic musical, My Fair Lady, is headed for the West End! Bartlett Sher's loverly production will begin performances at the English National Opera's London Coliseum in May 2022.

The Best of Broadway announced today that the individual tickets for the tour of ANASTASIA, coming to the North Charleston Performing Arts Center May 14-15, 2022, will go on sale Monday, November 22 at 10AM.

This weekend, the Lion King celebrated its 24th anniversary on Broadway. As part of its celebration, the anniversary performance was dedicated to the memory of the creator of the role of Mufasa in the original 1997 production, Samuel E. Wright, who received a Tony nomination for his performance.

The national tour of ANASTASIA will visit EJ Thomas Hall as part of the Broadway in Akron series November 30 and December 1, 2021.

New production photos have been released for the non-Equity, North American tour of Anastasia! The cast stars Kyla Stone as Anya, Sam McLellan as Dmitry, Brandon Delgado as Gleb, Gerri Weagraff as Dowager Empress, Bryan Seastrom as Vlad, Madeline Raube as Countess Lily and Taya Diggs and Marley Sophia as Little Anastasia.

There are so many things to like about the season’s revival of Gershwin’s PORGY & BESS, which was new in the 2019-2020 season, before Covid became the “song” that no one wanted to hear. PORGY on the other hand, is the music that everybody can take a liking to, with its fluid combination of opera, Broadway musical and versions of spirituals and Gullah folk music that nobody ever heard before. It has been best known for its songs, which have become “standards” in the Broadway songbook. The stylistic shifts in the complex, yearning, comic score are handled mightily by the Met’s game orchestra under David Robinson.

Paradise Square began its pre-Broadway engagement yesterday, November 2, at Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre (24 West Randolph Street). The production plays five weeks only through December 5, 2021. Check out the cast performing 'Someone to Love'.
