Theatre critic Herb Paine offers up 10 Shows in the Phoenix Metro area to look forward to in 2019 ~ to warm the heart and stir the mind.

245 Acts of Unspeakable Evil, a play by award-winning playwrights Paula Zelaya Cervantes and Ana Gonzlez Bello born out of their curiosity and anger as Mexicans and women who are powerless to change things in Americas current social and political situation, has won Arizona Theatre Companys 2018 National Latino Playwriting Award.With a unique, uproarious style,245 Acts of Unspeakable Evilis a spunky one-woman play about the powerless daughter of a powerful superhero.

When Arizona Theatre Company (David Ivers, Artistic Director; Billy Russo, Managing Director) brings the iconic The Music Man to Tucson and Phoenix, a powerhouse behind-the-scenes creative team will dramatically shape the on-stage experience for both patrons and performers.

Three students from Chapel Haven West, a nonprofit organization that empowers adults with developmental and social disabilities to live independent, happy lives, will spend the 2018-2019 season learning hands-on skills, being introduced to theatre's creative process and being mentored by Arizona Theatre Company staff and administration as part of an ongoing partnership.

Erma Bombeck, a national treasure who wrote so many of her hysterical life-inspired columns from her home in Arizona, comes to life in Arizona Theatre Company's (David Ivers, Artistic Director; Billy Russo Managing Director) production of Erma Bombeck: At Wit's End at the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe, from Nov. 15 through Dec. 2.

Single tickets for Arizona Theatre Company's 2018/2019 season, featuring six contemporary and classic American theatre productions at the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe in Phoenix, go on sale beginning Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018.

Arizona Theatre Company presents two classic films in June at the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Avenue, Tucson. Tickets for all films are $10 and may be purchased online at arizonatheatre.orgor at the door on the night of the film.  All tickets are general admission.

In so doing, he has stamped his signature as a worthy successor to the brilliant David Ira Goldstein and revealed his own distinctive artistic vision. Endowed with a brilliant cast, the show runs through March 4th at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix.
