Louis Carnell and multi-instrumentalist and composer Nailah Hunter share their collaboration, the penultimate release in the 111 series. Talking about the piece, Hunter explains, 'I drew inspiration from the second circle of hell as described in Dante’s Inferno, conjuring the sad sound of a rushing wind that blows lustful spirits apart from their lovers for all eternity.' Listen to the track now!

It paved the way for countless synth-based music duos, fashioning something dark and distinctive with a hint of pop that helped kick-start a new decade. The phenomenal success of 'Tainted Love' in America, where it spent a then-record breaking 43 straight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100) and led the way in the U.S.

The album, a concept album using computer software and synthesizers, was shrouded in mystery on its original release in July of 1995. Who was John Came? Theories have included Alan Wilder, Vince Clarke or Daniel Miller. What exactly was the radiophonic wizardry concealed in the Rhythmicon?

WIXIW was the continuation of a flawless run of album releases. From the first teaser on through the two singles,“No.1 Against the Rush” and its Todd Cole-directed horror film, and 'Brats' with its accompanying nightmarish computer-generated video by the artist Ian Cheng, the album was immediately hard to shake.

Our Likeness saw Phew return to Conny Plank’s legendary studio in Cologne (Kraftwerk, Neu! D.A.F. etc) after more than a decade when Chrislo Haas (1956-2004 - one of the driving forces in modern electronic music, and an important figure in the Neue Deutsche Welle scene) invited her to collaborate.
