Though the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of over 100 Trinity Rep performances, classes, and events this spring and summer, it will not end Trinity Repa??s 43-year history of presenting A Christmas Carol.

The Washington Trust Company, a longtime supporter of Trinity Rep recently committed to sponsoring the theater's Facebook Live show, a?oeYour Half Hour Call with Curt Columbus.a?? 

With the health and safety of our artists, patrons, and staff as our top priority, Trinity Rep will shift the schedule of the previously announced 2020-21 Season.

The Tony Award-winning Trinity Repertory Company, under the artistic leadership of The Arthur P. Solomon and Sally E. Lapides Artistic Director Curt Columbus, announces the company's 57th season.

Though Trinity Rep stages and classrooms are temporarily shuttered to protect public health and safety, Rhode Island's Tony Award-winning theater is generating digital content and creating virtual events and classes, so that 'the show goes on.'

Trinity Rep continues its 2019-20 Season with Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Sweat by Lynn Nottage. This Broadway hit is the story of the unintended consequences of community without opportunity. It is set during the Great Recession and in the years leading up to it in Reading, Pennsylvania, while friends try to stay afloat as their industrial jobs begin to disappear. This relevant and timely topic shines a light on American workers that are often forgotten.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 15 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Trinity Rep continues its 2019-20 Season with the final play from American theatrical legend August Wilson - Radio Golf. Directed by resident acting company member Jude Sandy, the show features resident acting company member Joe Wilson, Jr., as Harmond Wilks, a man determined to revive his childhood neighborhood without considering the emotional cost. Both moving and funny, Radio Golf is the culmination of August Wilson's ten-play American Century Cycle chronicling each decade of African-American life in the twentieth century. Trinity Rep continues its 2019-20 Season with the behind-the-scenes dramatic comedy Fade by Tanya Saracho. Directed by Tatyana-Marie Carlo, the show features guest artist Elia Saldana as Lucia, a Mexican-born novelist who just accepted her first job writing for television, where her ambition might make her betray everything she thought she valued. Opposite Saldana is resident acting company member Daniel Duque-Estrada as Abel, an ex-Marine working as a janitor at the station who has more to his story than meets the eye. Trinity Repertory Company announces its 2019 Project Discovery Gala, which celebrates and supports education programs and Project Discovery at Trinity Rep. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 in the Chace Theater at the company's downtown location, 201 Washington Street, and will feature cocktails, light dinner, fun and laughter, plus a live auction and special performances by Trinity Rep resident actors. On Sunday, August 4, 2019, at the conclusion of the 2019 MFA Playwrights' Workshop at the Kennedy Center, Actor's Express Artistic Director Freddie Ashley was awarded the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Medallion of Excellence.

The executive committee of Trinity Rep's Board of Trustees, under the leadership of Board Chair Suzanne Magaziner, announces the renewal and extension of Executive Director Tom Parrish's contract through the 2022-23 Season.

For many students, it is a requirement to read CRIME AND PUNISHMENT by Fyodor Dostoevsky. But, in my opinion, the much-too-long, repetitive text is difficult to follow as much of the action takes place within the mind of its protagonist, Raskolnikov, who admits he murdered two women and is trying to understand what lead him to do so. So, when I heard Working Barn Productions was presenting Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus's Jefferson Award-winning, three-person adaptation of the famous novel as a psychological inquiry into the troubled mind of a murderer, I thought perhaps this was the perfect way to re-visit the story.

The adaptation of Dostoyevsky's classic novel Crime and Punishment receives a three-actor, ninety-minute theatrical mounting at the Edgemar Center for the Arts beginning April 27, 2019. I managed to fly a few questions pass a very in-demand Michael Trevino, who plays CRIME AND PUNISHMENT's central character Raskolnikov in this adaptation by Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus, and directed by Peter Richards.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 50th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 16-20, 2019 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF. Selected awardees and representatives will be brought to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in the National Festival. These student artists from across the United States have been recognized for their outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 8 through February 28, 2019.

The Penfold Theatre Company's production of CRIME AND PUNISHEMENT -- adapted by Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus from the novel of the same name by Dostoevsky -- was a tense night at the theatre that was unlike anything I have ever experienced.
