Berkeley Rep Premieres Virtual Gala

BroadwayHD to Stream Berkeley Rep's SCHOOL GIRLS, OR THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY and CULTURE CLASH

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced that patrons can buy tickets to either Culture Clash (Still) in America or Jocelyn Bioh's School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play online. Through a generous partnership with Actors' Equity Association, Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE, and BroadwayHD, patrons who hold tickets to the canceled productions are able to watch a high definition recording in the comfort of their own homes. Those ticket buyers will receive an email from Berkeley Rep this week with instructions on how to access their productions on BroadwayHD.

Berkeley Rep Cancels Performances Through April 5

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced that due to increasing concerns surrounding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and Governor Gavin Newsom's recommendation to postpone large events of more than 250 people, it will cancel future performances of its current production, Culture Clash (Still) in America.

Theater for the New City Will Present Donald E. Lacy Jr. in COLORSTRUCK

From February 27 to March 15, Theater for the New City (TNC) will present comedian/actor/broadcaster Donald E. Lacy Jr. updating his one man show, 'ColorStruck,' a bittersweet examination of how cultural assumptions drive American society. Since national politics provide a never-ending supply of new material, the piece is continually reshaped. The velocity of change since TNC presented the show's New York debut last year (Feb-March, 2019) has inspired Lacy to initiate a new version that reflects pressing current events.

Celeste Lanuza Y La Familia Announced At The Green Room 42

THE GREEN ROOM 42, Broadway's newest Cabaret Club, presents Celeste Lanuza Y La Familia in Songs from the Musical: The Desert Rose on March 1st. Celeste Lanuza (NPR Tiny Desk Ft. Latinx Singer-Songwriter, Radio City Music Hall NBC Universal Singer, Arizona Opera Principal) presents a one night only performance of the full score of the musical she co wrote and co composed with her father Federico Lanuza ('In the Name of the People' Composer for Academy Award Film, Mongo Santamaria composer/pianist, Old Globe Theater composer/musical director/pianist) pianist and music director of the evening.

BWW Review: KING ARTHUR at the Beverly O'Neill Theater in Long Beach

On Sunday afternoon, Long Beach Opera (LBO) presented the world premiere of its adaptation of Henry Purcell's semi-opera King Arthur at the Beverly O'Neill Theater. A semi-opera refers to a Restoration entertainment that combines a spoken play with musical episodes that involvolomot, Darryl Taylor, e singing and dancing. Purcell's best known semi-operas are King Arthur and The Fairy-Queen. LBO presented its version of the latter in 2017.
