Culture Clash will Return to Berkeley Repertory Theatre with CULTURE CLASH (STILL) IN AMERICA

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced that Bay Area natives and provocateurs, Culture Clash, are returning with their latest production, Culture Clash (Still) in America. The play, written and performed by Culture Clash and directed by Obie Award winner Lisa Peterson, marks the fifth time the satirical group has performed at Berkeley Rep.

THE BAKER AND THE BEAUTY to Premiere on April 6 on ABC

ABC's compelling new modern-day fairy tale, “The Baker and the Beauty,” will take viewers on a flavor-filled adventure between relatable everyman Daniel and international superstar Noa. Daniel Garcia is working in the family bakery and doing everything that his loving Cuban parents and siblings expect him to do. But when he meets Noa Hamilton on a wild Miami night, his life moves into the spotlight. Will this unlikely couple upend their lives to be together and pull his family into a culture clash? “The Baker and the Beauty” premieres MONDAY, APRIL 6 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT).

Lineup Announced For the 4th Annual Festival Of New Plays At JAG Productions

Every February for the past three years, JAG Productions has invited African-American theatre artists to spend a week in White River Junction, Vermont to further the development of a new play or solo performance. Over the course of the one-week residency, three to five projects receive an intensive workshop, constructive feedback, and a staged reading for the public at Briggs Opera House. This year we are excited to announce a new partnership with the Hopkins Center for the Arts, where we will be concluding our festival with our final reading at the Bentley Theater!

Long Beach Opera Presents KING ARTHUR Next Month

Long Beach Opera presents a new production of Purcell's King Arthur --- a collaboration with Chicano provocateurs CULTURE CLASH and the authentic sounds of LA 's premiere Baroque orchestra MUSICA ANGELICA -- in January 2020 for only three performances at Long Beach's Beverly O'Neill Theatre.  Performances are Sunday January 12, Saturday January 18 and Sunday, January 19.   

Arena Stage Announces Cast and Creative for A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the company for A Thousand Splendid Suns, adapted for the stage by Ursula Rani Sarma and based on the 2007 New York Times bestselling novel by Khaled Hosseini (Kite Runner). Set in 1992 in war-torn Afghanistan, this gripping story centers around a friendship that develops between two Afghan women following a tragedy. While facing insurmountable odds of a brutal and oppressive way of life, the two form an unlikely bond in a heart-rending fight for survival. Directed by Carey Perloff, A Thousand Splendid Suns runs January 17 - March 1, 2020 in the Kreeger Theater.

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) announced today the lineup of free REP Xtras Events surrounding the downtown theatre's production of Hold These Truths. The REP's Xtras Events series includes community-focused conversations, actor talk-backs, musical performances and other activities intended to deepen the audience's engagement with the plays onstage.

In February, Tim Cowbury returns with his bold response to the migration crisis, The Claim, following its run in Edinburgh as part of the British Council Showcase; the piece is directed by Mark Maughan.

Nine original independent pilots and their 14 creators, will benefit from holistic support and development at Sundance Institute's sixth annual Episodic Lab, taking place at Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah October 10-15, 2019. With topics that span genres --  from provocative reimaginings of the American dream to  visionary and epic supernatural dramas-- the scope of this year's projects, along with the diverse backgrounds of their creators, speaks to the Institute's broad and visionary support of the episodic format as the industry develops and grows; the Episodic Lab is the centerpiece of the Institute's year-round support program for emerging television writers.

Laura Wade isn't the first to tackle Jane Austen's unfinished novel, abandoned in 1805, but she is the only one so far to write herself, the struggling adaptor, into the text. San Diego Repertory Theatre announced today the cast and creative team for the brand new play by San Diego REP Playwright-in-Residence Herbert Siguenza, Bad Hombres/Good Wives. The production, featuring direction by REP Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse and original music by Nortec Collective founder Bostich, will run October 3-27, 2019, at San Diego REP's Lyceum Stage Theatre, with previews October 3 – 8, and press opening on Wednesday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m.
