It’s… Hairspray! BroadwayWorld is taking a look back at what the cast of this beloved musical has been up to since the show first graced the Broadway stage!

Based on the Dark Horse comics, SYFY's “Resident Alien” follows a crash-landed alien named Harry (Alan Tudyk) whose secret mission is to kill all humans. In season three, Harry is vowing to work with General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) to rid the Earth of the Grey aliens – a task made more difficult. Watch the video trailer now!

This year, for the first time ever, Miscast will go entirely digital, inviting in theater fans everywhere. The free, 90-minute broadcast will be captioned, and will feature all new performances, special guests, and more. Tune in right here at  tonight at 8pm to watch live! MCC Theater announced today that members of the original Broadway cast of Hairspray will reunite for Miscast20. The gala will take place Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 8PM ET on MCC Theater's YouTube Channel, and will be available to watch through Thursday, September 17.

Alan Tudyk leads the cast of Resident Alien, SYFY's adaptation of the Dark Horse comic of the same name by co-creators Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse.  

Broadway Kids Jam has released their latest jam, 'Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now' from the hit Broadway musical, Movie, and live TV broadcast, Hairspray. This jam features Molly Richardson (Matilda), Mckayla Twiggs (Anastasia, Les Miserables, Once), Joshua Turchin (The Pill, TrevorLIVE LA, A Christmas Story the Musical) and Shaina Turchin.

On August 15, 2002, 'Hairspray' opened on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre, winning eight 2003 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Actor (Harvey Fierstein), Best Actress (Marissa Jaret Winokur), Best Featured Actor (Dick Latessa), Best Costume Design and Best Direction of a Musical.

The first was the 1988 original film, the second was the 2002 Broadway musical, the third was its 2007 film adaptation, and then the 2016 live television production on NBC. As a Welcome to the 60's, let's go back to beginning to learn the history of the property itself.
