The one-act rock musical promises, and delivers, on murder. This is not your grandmother's Agatha Christie drawing-room whodunit.

Murder Ballas, a sexy and razor-sharp contemporary rock musical thriller is taking the stage at Prima Theatre. 

The Lord of Misrule is an ancient Christmas tradition dating back to Christmas' origins as Saturnalia. A beggar is crowned the Lord of Misrule to preside over drunken mobs and Christmas parties. The Lord of Misrule would often make demands of local gentry (usually more food or booze) and if the gentry failed to meet the demands; the Lord of Misrule would incite a riot against the gentry, destroying property and threatening violence. Basically, charity by force.

The Alternative Theater Company presents BELIEVEABILITY, the August 30th Third Virtual Reading in a series of 10-minute original plays that explore the subject of faith, 'in your face plays for these in your face kind of days.'

'Ludwig and Bertiea?? by Douglas Lackey examines the relationship of two leading twentieth century philosophers, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Bertrand Russell.  Theater for the New City (TNC) will present the play's world premiere run September 26 to October 13, directed by Alexander Harrington.

The Tyler Clementi Foundation was honored at Moving with the Spirit, a dramatic performance and fundraiser organized by the Gay Fellowship at Blessed Sacrament Church. The event was be a celebration of New York City Pride Week and the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall riots.

CRY WOLF, a new play, follows the story of Connor and Gwen Burns as they return home from their tour in Iraq. As they attempt to return to civilian life, neither can find a way to process their trauma without hurting the other. The lasting damage and the joys of being home mix together until they are unsure if they're actually helping each other or just lashing out to relieve their personal pain. When are they actually there for each other? Are they crying wolf? Will they make it through?

The Bridge Production Group presents Adam Rapp's 'Red Light Winter' as part of the The Bridge Residency at the Robert Moss Theatre in Astor Place. With direction by Claire Edmonds, 'Red Light Winter' runs in repertory with Carol Brown's 'Hedda' and original movement piece 'The Sonnets' through October 29th. Hard Sparks gives the ancients a twist with a pair of shows in rep: Melody Bates and Rebecca Hart's The Cabaret at the End of the World (directed by Joan Jubett), set in a nightclub in Julius Caesar-era Rome; and Bob Bartlett's Bareback Ink (directed by David Drake), a modern queer update of the Ganymede myth, set in a tattoo shop.

An enthralling production of William Shakespeare's 'Richard III' is onstage at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Directed by Paul Mullins and featuring a stellar cast, the show will be performed through Sunday, November 6th.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will be available through the month of October when The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, in partnership with Drew University, presents a "double-bill" experience for students and adults. From October 6th - 30th, a single copy of the original First Folio, one of the world's most valuable, rare and influential books will be on public display at Drew University's Mead Hall. The renowned Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. launched an historic tour of the book in early 2016 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.

Directed by Daniel Sullivan, Troilus and Cressida had its official opening on August 9, 2016. This is the second of three productions in the 2016 Shakespeare in the Park season, which is produced by The Public Theater.

The Public Theater recently announced that Louis Cancelmi, last seen as Caliban in the Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest, had stepped into the company of Troilus and Cressida as Achilles, replacing David Harbour, who suffered an injury during previews and will be unable to complete the run. The play celebrates its opening tonight, August 9, after a short delay.
