Once every so often audiences of a theatre-going persuasion are treated to something a little out of the ordinary. Something that may just have to be experienced before allowing it to fully sink in. Jobsite revels in the strange, the unorthodox, the Masterclass of all things twisted and warped; and these are some centralized moments of Shockheaded Peter or its namesake Der Struwwelpeter. Having personally never heard of Der Struwwelpeter or William Maloney’s The Worst of Everything, I had no idea what I was in store for. Which made this particular show more zany, exciting, and mentally stimulating than most seen as of late. From every angle, there was something to watch, something to leave our mouths agape and make you just think what the hell?

Based on a notoriously deranged German children's book, it's a theatrical marvel...but will audiences get it?

Jobsite Theater, resident theater company at the Straz Center in downtown Tampa, is a thrilled to announce Jobsite Digital Shorts for this fall! The series launched on Sep. 4 with Across the Stardust, a magical musical mash-up set against a backdrop of astrophotography that fans of the Fab Four and Picasso of Pop do not want to miss. Across the Stardust will be joined in the coming weeks by a variety of new releases.

Featuring the professional talents of Scott Daniel, Dan Franke, Georgia Mallory Guy, Colleen Cherry, Kara Sotakoun, Ryan Bernier, Kristin Carbone, Michael St. John and Young Artists Ensemble members Caroline Howard, Jamesyn Horton, Emily Stephens, Kate Shamblin, Jake Perez, Nikala Hale, Blase Roque, Collage also showcases over 20 students of HB Plant High School Theatre Company.

The St. Petersburg Celebration of the Arts is celebrating the work of William Shakespeare with local arts and cultural organizations presenting variations on the Bard's work during the month of February. American Stage will feature a one-night-only performance of An Evening With Shakespeare's Lovers with Shakespeare and Shakespeare-inspired scenes, sonnets, and songs.

Imagine combing through 500 diverse submissions of new works to choose selections to perform during the third annual 21ST CENTURY VOICES: NEW PLAY FESTIVAL at American Stage. Producing Artistic Director Stephanie Gularte and a committee of 40 members read and evaluated each new play and selected five outstanding plays for staged readings on January 3-6, 2019.

This festival is a core component of our 21stCENTURY VOICES: EMERGING PLAYS, dedicated to discovering, developing, and introducing audiences to new works for the stage. A diverse committee of 40 community members works alongside our Producing Artistic Director Stephanie Gularte each year to read and evaluate over 500 new play submissions from up-and-coming playwrights across the globe.

GASP!, Creative Loafing's multi-disciplinary performing arts fest at the Tampa Museum of Art, returns on Friday, March 16th, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with its most eclectic lineup yet. Fest-goers will find an ever-changing mix of dance, theater, music, body art, fashion and spoken word inside and outside the museum - including the world premiere of a dance-theater collaboration to be performed on a grassy slope above the Tampa Riverwalk. Tickets available now at GaspTampa.com.

Jobsite and the Straz Center have added a final performance to the run of LIZZIE, providing one more opportunity to experience this unique rock musical that is blowing Tampa Bay audiences away. The Drama Desk Award-nominated LIZZIE, taking the nation by storm in over a dozen licensed productions, will now conclude its run with an 8pm show on Sun., Nov. 6, in the Jaeb Theater at the Straz Center where Jobsite is resident theater company.
