The Broadway at Birdland series had one of the country's finest pop/jazz vocalists on it's stage last night. No….it wasn't Marilyn Maye, however the cheering and constant standing ovations Clint Holmes was receiving after each spectacular song interpretation was very similar to the ovations at a marvelous Marilyn performance. In the creative soul of Clint Holmes a tune you have heard many times gets deconstructed and reconstructed in ways that create a new work of art.

Birdland will kick-off their great week of programming with the following acts:

On Monday, August 26 at 7:00pm, the Harlem School of the Arts (HSA), in partnership with The National Jazz Museum in Harlem (NJMH), and the Catskill Jazz Factory (CJF) will present a special concert performance of The Spirit of Harlem, a celebratory homage to the most iconic moments of Harlem's musical past, and the jazz renaissance currently taking place in New York City. Free to the public, the concert will be held at the HSA Theater, located at 649 St. Nicholas Avenue.

We are all aware of those great music scores created by gifted composers for the movies but last night at Dizzy's Club, Christine Tamburr, a gifted composer and virtuoso vibraphonist led a world class group of musicians and jazz great Clint Holmes in a performance of his score “The Awakening “ Sounds For Sculpture”. Just as you can't imagine a movie without the underlying music, something tells me I won't be able to enjoy a “silent” Sculpture anymore after the experience of listening to Christian Tambour's breathtaking music inspired by the Sculpture of world renowned Seward Johnson.

Hudson Hall at the historic Hudson Opera House invites audiences to embrace a sense of adventure with a new season of music, theater, exhibitions, film, book launches, special events, and community programs this August to December.

Mr. Finn's Cabaret at Barrington Stage Company has become one of the countries leading presenters of the art form of cabaret. The road going from Birdland and Feinstein's/54 Below to Pittsfield Ma. now also comes from Las Vegas. Clint Holmes, one of the main attractions on the strip and in nightclubs around the country came to Barrington Stage Company last night and made the Berkshires and Mr. Finn's officially become part of the nightclub circuit.

In celebration of his 100th birthday, jazz favorites and vocal legends Clint Holmes and Billy Stritch will pay tribute to the unforgettable Nat "King" Cole with their new show, Straighten Up and Fly Right-The Music of Nat "King" Cole, at Feinstein's at the Nikko on Thursday, July 18 at 8 p.m. and Friday, July 19 at 8 p.m. Joined by musical director Christian Tamburr and his trio, longtime friends Clint and Billy will combine their musical talents to perform many of the timeless hits made famous by the master himself, including "Route 66," "Mona Lisa," and "Nature Boy." Some of the most momentous moments in music have happened on the stages of Birdland. Currently New Yorkers are witnessing performances by two of the worlds finest musician/entertainers in a musical salute to Nat King Cole that will add magnificently to Birdland's history. Clint Holmes and Billy Stritch have teamed up this week to produce an extraordinary musical event in tribute to Nat. Clint Holmes is one of the most exciting entertainers and jazz vocalists this country has produced, and Billy Stritch's enormous talents as a pianist, arranger and vocalist are world renowned. Both of these giants equally share the stage during this show in Birdland's new Theater. The combination of the two jazz/pop superstars is breathtaking and the one negative is that you can only see it from May 8-11. The word is out…. the seats will be scarce for this exceptional 4 night 6 performance Birdland special event.
