Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the cast and crew of the comedy Windfall, the first show of the 2022 Mainstage Season, with previews starting May 31. The new comedy by Scooter Pietsch, directed by Jason Alexander, opens Saturday, June 4, and continues through Sunday, June 19

It features five stripped back versions of songs from her 2021 debut album, Note To Self, with themes of self-growth and reflection shining even more brightly through these raw, intimate and moving renditions. The new Broadway musical Paradise Square will now resume performances on Tuesday, April 19 at the Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street), rather than Saturday, April 16 as previously announced. The change is due to additional COVID cases within the company.

Concerts for the North Charleston POPS! 2022-2023 season were announced today. The season features something for everyone. The shows are: LAKISHA JONES: QUEENS OF ROCK & SOUL on Saturday, September 24; STAR SPANGLED EVENING on Saturday, November 12; DANCE PARTY on Saturday, January 28; MAESTRO NICK’S PICKS on Saturday, March 25; and SUPER HEROES on Saturday, April 29. All performances are at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Show time for all concerts is 7:30 PM. The season is sponsored by The Boeing Company.

After previously announcing that performances would resume on Tuesday, April 12, the original new Broadway musical Paradise Square will definitely resume performances on Saturday, April 16, with performances at 2:00 and 8:00 pm at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). The production, which opened April 3, halted performances on Thursday, April 7 after positive COVID cases were experienced in the company.

Jukebox musicals are a mainstay of the American Musical Theater. They have recognizable hit songs built in and instant appeal for fans. But they’re difficult to get right, needing a good book to incorporate the songs into a cohesive story.
