Bryan-Keyth Wilson​​​​​​​ Receives Playwright Residency In New Jersey

Houston based playwright Bryan-Keyth Wilson was selected by a committee as the first place winner of the 2020 Show Me The Monologue Playwriting Competition. FOR COLORED BOYZ on the verge of a nervous breakdown/ when freedom aint enuff was among a group of high caliber projects selected from over 100 submissions nationwide. The Show Me the Monologue Competition is presented by the Paterson Performance Arts Council in New Jersey.

The Creative Co-Lab Launches 2nd Season Of The Broadway & Beyond Podcast

The Creative Co-Lab is a Houston/ NYC based interdisciplinary ensemble of singers, actors, dancers, poets, playwrights, directors, and choreographers who use the stage and media as a medium to educate, empower and entertain the community. The Creative Co-Lab was founded in 2015 by Bryan-Keyth Wilson; The Creative Co-Lab produces original works with a revolving ensemble as well as podcasts and special events. 

The Creative Co-Lab's: INAUGURAL LIFT EV'RY VOICE INTERNATIONAL PLAYWRIGHT & SPOKEN WORD FESTIVAL 

Bryan-Keyth Wilson and The Creative Co-Lab will present the Inaugural LIFT EV'RY VOICE International Playwright & Spoke Word Festival. This is an online theatre/ poetry festival, showcasing the work of diverse global artists. In a time where black/ brown voices and stories are essential. The Creative Co-Lab wants to use this platform to showcase the voices not often heard. This festival is free to watch all over the world.

While many theatres have gone dark companies like The Creative Co-Lab HTX|NYC is continuing to create work and find innovative ways to bring the theatre to the people. COVID-19 has hit the theatre community hard and many actors, crew and staff have fallen on hard times. Creative Director/ Playwright Bryan-Keyth Wilson wanted to do something that would fuel his creative juices as well as reach out to other actors across the world.

The Creative Co-Lab (Artistic Director Bryan-Keyth Wilson) announced the complete casting today for the Houston remount of the trailblazing choreopoem FOR COLORED BOYZ ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN/ when freedom ain't enuff. The Broadway World nominee for Best Play FOR COLORED BOYZ is a choreopoem by award-winning author/ playwright Bryan-Keyth Wilson (Hood Boy Chronicles, Pamlet, The Subway Series) was inspired by Ntozake Shange's for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf. The show will play March 27-29 at The DeLuxe Theatre in Houston, TX. a?oeWilson's work boldly carves its own space within the theatrical canon just as its female-focused predecessor,a?? said Alric Davis, Broadway World.

OTHELLO THE REMIX Announces Cast

The Obsidian Theatre has announced the Houston premiere of The Q Brother's OTHELLO: The Remix, originally presented on Broadway by John Leguizamo. Brothers and collaborators JQ and GQ have a body of work that span 20 years adapting Shakespeare's work (Funk It Up About Nothin', I Heart Juliet , and The Bomb-itty of Errors.) a?oeSince living and working in New York City, I've been a long time fan of the Q-Brothers and all of their material. On March 29th The Creative Collab had their world premiere of FOR COLORED BOYZ ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN/ when freedom ain't enuff, a choreopoem by Bryan-Keyth Wilson (Hood Boy Chronicles, Pamlet, The Subway Series) inspired by Ntozake Shange's for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf. FOR COLORED BOYZ first hit the Houston Theatre scene 4 years ago during the workshop phase. ! On February 21, 2015 a workshop was presented in Galveston at Old Central sponsored by The Nia Cultural Center then following the next year Kevin Anderson and the T.R.U.T.H. produced the 2nd phase of the script workshop. After two script workshops and staged readings Wilson and his creative team are ready to release this theatrical gem to the theatre community.
