Broadway in Bryant Park returns this summer for its 20th year! 106.7 LITE FM's popular series will bring the best of Broadway and Off-Broadway together for FREE performances, for six consecutive weeks, continuing this Thursday, August 8 to Thursday, August 15. New Yorkers and visitors to the Big Apple are invited to come at 11 a.m. every Thursday, beginning July 11 through August 15, with performances running from 12:30 p.m. EST - 1:30 p.m. EST on the Bryant Park Stage.

This past January, Broadway audiences found a new hero to root for, when they curled up on their couches and tuned in to FOX's Rent: Live. Brennin Hunt made his theatrical debut in the television special as the struggling musician Roger, and this summer he's moving on from the small screen to the big stage as the new star of Pretty Woman.

BroadwayWorld has learned that the original Broadway production of Pretty Woman will end its run at the Nederlander Theatre on Aug. 18. PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL will have played 27 preview performances and 421 regular performances by its final performance on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 7:30pm. The new musical began performances on Broadway on July 20, 2018, and opened a month later on Aug. 16.

Summer can officially begin in Sacramento! Broadway at Music Circus kicks off its new season on June 11 with Shrek the Musical. Shrek brings something for the entire family to enjoy and is the perfect accompaniment to PRIDE month with its message of inclusion. When it comes to RENT being on broadcast television, it was always going to be a dicey experience. Diehard fans were sure to be disappointed by lines altered to be in compliance with the FCC. Then, casting a handful of pop performers over trained actors was sure to lead to questionable character choices throughout the evening. Sony Masterworks Broadway's RENT (Original Soundtrack of the Fox Live Television Event) drives these points home with all the subtly of a sledgehammer bludgeoning a nail.

Brennin Hunt, who plays Roger Davis in the show, broke his foot during dress rehearsal, which led to the decision that instead of airing live, FOX would broadcast the taped dress rehearsal performance. Unfortunately, this resulted in a show that was not at 100%, however, despite all of the trouble, there were many moments that shined through.
