Hudson Hall at the historic Hudson Opera House announces No Cowards in Our Band, a powerful musical drama that tells the story of an aging and contemplative Frederick Douglass (1818-1895). Set against the backdrop of post-Reconstruction America, No Cowards in Our Band portrays Frederick Douglass as he considers the social, economic, and political ramifications of slavery and the Civil War and their impact on the future of the United States.

Drummer, percussionist and composer Marlon Simon has traveled myriad different paths over the course of his nearly four-decade career. In response to Covid to provide some money to NYC’s many out-of-work or underemployed string musicians, Manny Alvarez launched a “Kolstein Performance Showcase” in collaboration with the Essex House on Central Park South/7th.  There is an ongoing schedule every Friday evening from 7-8 PM.
