Hylton Performing Arts Center announced today its 2019-2020 season of mainstage performances, featuring a diverse lineup of artists and ensembles across genres, as part of Hylton Presents, Hylton Family Series, Matinee Idylls, and the American Roots Series. The Hylton Center also announced the first Hylton Center EXTRA! for the season: the husband and wife duo and banjo icons, B la Fleck and Abigail Washburn, in a special concert event featuring their unique blend of alternative bluegrass. The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Los Angeles Master Chorale's Annual High School Choir Festival will be so joyous, it cannot be contained within the walls of Walt Disney Concert Hall! As part of the celebratory Festival Day on Friday, May 3, over 1,000 student singers will give a pop-up performance outdoors on the main staircase of Disney Hall on Grand Avenue at 11:30 AM. Internationally renowned choral conductor and composer Eric Whitacre, who is the 2019 Festival's guest artist, will lead the students in a performance of Pentatonix's Sing, arranged for the Master Chorale by Ben Bram and Pentatonix.
The world famous Troubadour in Los Angeles will host the Donny Hathaway Live Tribute this Friday March 15th at 9 p.m. An incredible group of musicians and singers will come together to perform the music featured on the classic album 'Donny Hathaway Live' which was released in 1972. Long considered one of the best live albums ever recorded, the songs are taken from a performance originally given by Donny Hathaway at the Troubadour back in 1971.

Producer David Sonenberg is bringing a musical version of his Academy Award winning film 'When We Were Kings', about the now-legendary 1974 Muhammad Ali/George Forman fight held in Zaire, Africa, to the stage. The book for the musical, adapted from the film and written by Shelley Marcus. The songs for the musical are R&B classics from the 1974 Zaire music festival, with the exception of 'Rumble In The Jungle', which was written by The Fugees for the film. A workshop is scheduled for the spring of 2019 with plans for a full stage musical production the following year.
