Last week the book 'Me' was released by the legend Elton John and it got me thinking about Elton's contribution to musical theatre. His music and his generous personality have touched millions. His musical fantasy movie Rocketman, that came out earlier this year, based on his life is one of the greatest, in my opinion, films ever made. He has such a passion and love for everything he does and what he has given the magical world of musical theatre is just as extraordinary.
As credits rolled on a one of a kind screening of ROCKETMAN with the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra Thursday evening, Elton John and star Taron Egerton brought movie magic to life with an encore performance of best song hopeful '(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again.'
Hailed as “a spectacular journey through the mind of a genius” (Jake Hamilton, WFLD-TV (FOX)) and “one of the best films of the year” (IGN), ROCKETMAN blasts off three weeks early on Digital August 6, 2019 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD August 27 from Paramount Home Entertainment.

As any Broadway theater-goer knows, jukebox bio-musicals are surprisingly difficult to pull off well. Stringing together hit songs in a way that serves a story, while also dealing with all the real-life egos involved, often involves sacrificing musical or dramatic integrity. It's even more surprising, then, that one of the best recent bio-musicals isn't even a Broadway show: it's Rocketman, the musical movie about the early life and career of Sir Elton John. By giving itself permission to be a musical first, the movie's soundtrack manages to capture the iconic musician's sound without giving up on a satisfying dramatic arc.
You've admired Elton John's talent, seen the fabulous movie, 'Rocketman,' and now it's time to get the book that chronicles it all. Weldon Owen International has published Rocketman: Inside the World of the Movie based on the recent blockbuster from Paramount Pictures. Film fans and all those who have followed the career of Elton John will love having this beautiful book.

In 2015, singer/songwriting phenom Ariana Gillis was, as they say, going places, until a chance accident sidelined her career. Winner of numerous awards in her native Canada, including the Canadian Folk Music Award, her life was devastated by a bizarre incident. Her collision with a car door caused a rare form of concussion which was not diagnosed until much later, rendering her unable to work or perform. A devastating injury can lead to the early end of a career, something Gillis had a lot of time to contemplate, but fortunately she was able to continue, ultimately.
