BroadwayWorld has learned Tony nominee Beth Malone will return to The Muny as Miss Trunchbull in Roald Dahl's Matilda, August 5 - 11. Malone played the title role in The Muny's 2017 production of The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Roald Dahl's Matilda is proudly sponsored by Emerson.

The Muny announced today its complete cast, design and production team for Roald Dahl's Matilda, the seventh and final show of its 101st season, August 5 - 11.

This week, New York City Center presents the final Encores! production of the City Center 75th Anniversary Season, High Button Shoes. The production features Aidan Alberto (Stevie), Jennifer Allen (Shirley Simpkins), Kevin Chamberlin (Mr. Pontdue), Carla Duren (Fran), Chester Gregory (Papa Longstreet), Mylinda Hull (Nancy), Marc Koeck (Oggle), Matt Loehr (Uncle Willy), Wayne Pretlow (Elmer Simpkins), Michael Urie (Harrison Floy), and Betsy Wolfe (Sara Longstreet).

New York City Center today announced casting for High Button Shoes, the final Encores! production of the City Center 75th Anniversary Season. The production will feature Aidan Alberto (Stevie), Jennifer Allen (Shirley Simpkins), Kevin Chamberlin (Mr. Pontdue), Carla Duren (Fran), Chester Gregory (Papa Longstreet), Mylinda Hull (Nancy), Marc Koeck (Oggle), Matt Loehr (Uncle Willy), Wayne Pretlow (Elmer Simpkins),Michael Urie (Harrison Floy), and Betsy Wolfe (Sara Longstreet).

MAMMA MIA!, the hit jukebox musical, opened on February 19 and is playing through March 3, 2019 at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, Texas.

When attending a jukebox musical, it's expected that the best part of the show will likely be the cherished songs and vocals. MAMMA MIA showcases music and lyrics by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, and a book by Catherine Johnson that is predictably a bit surface-level and 'cheesy', for lack of a better word. Of course, this effect is almost expected when adapting a collection of an artist's songs for the stage, and cheesy can be wonderful. However, there is a way to stage a cheesy musical without seeming inauthentic. There were moments in Theatre Under the Stars' MAMMA MIA that worked, and some that didn't.

It's time to break out all the glitter because Mark Price, who plays Harry Bright in The Theatre Under the Stars production of Mamma Mia is taking over the BroadwayWorld Instagram Story tomorrow! Make sure to tune in to see all of the dancing and jiving that goes into the show's opening night! My my, how can you resist it?!
