The Metropolitan Opera Announces 2022–23 Season, Featuring Renée Fleming, Kelli O'Hara & More

The Metropolitan Opera today announced its 2022–23 season, which features seven new productions, the most in ten seasons. Opening Night is September 27 with the company premiere of Cherubini’s Medea, starring soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role alongside tenor Matthew Polenzani in David McVicar’s new staging, conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

FIAF Announces November and December Programming

This November and December, the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) brings back its beloved HD Screening series with the Paris Opera and Ballet's, acclaimed new production of Faust, welcomes a timely conversation on climate change and cities, exhibits the work of rising NY-based French artist, celebrates the career of artist Françoise Gilot and continues its series of screenings dedicated to French star Léa Seydoux.

The Metropolitan Opera Has Announced its 2020–21 Season

Today, the Metropolitan Opera announced its 2020-21 season, the first in which Yannick Nézet-Séguin assumes his full breadth of musical duties as the company's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducting six productions. His schedule includes the Met premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking, the first contemporary opera conducted by the maestro on the Met stage, as part of his ongoing commitment to opera of our time at the Met, which will expand in the seasons to come.

Finalists Announced for International Opera Awards 2020

The International Opera Awards today announced the finalists for its 2020 Awards [Wednesday 5 February 2020]. The annual red-carpet event - which celebrates achievement in opera around the globe over the 2019 calendar year - recognises excellence in a wide range of categories that cover performance, design and direction as well as education and outreach.

Über 10.000 begeisterte Besucherinnen und Besucher feierten am gestrigen Sonntag, 26. Mai 2019 den 150. Geburtstag des Hauses am Ring beim „Jubilaumskonzert vor der Oper". Gemeinsam mit Ensemblesangerinnen und -sangern, internationalen Gastsolistinnen und -solisten, dem Orchester und dem Chor der Wiener Staatsoper unter der musikalischen Leitung von Marco Armiliato wurde der Herbert von Karajan-Platz/Opernring bei freiem Zugang bespielt - als Überraschung fur das Publikum wurden einige Programmpunkte von der Terrasse der Wiener Staatsoper und von Balkonen des Hotel Bristol gegeben.

LA TRAVIATA Returns To The Royal Opera House

The Royal Opera presents Richard Eyre's stunning production of Verdi's La traviata, returning to Covent Garden for its 16th revival. First seen on the Royal Opera House main stage in 1994, the acclaimed English director's classic production lavishly re-creates the glamour of Paris in the mid-19th century and contrasts the superficial splendour of Parisian high society with an intimate examination of the opera's central characters.

Washington National Opera Announces 2018/19 Season; LA TRAVIATA, SILENT NIGHT, ONEGIN, and More!

Washington National Opera (WNO), led by Artistic Director Francesca Zambello, announces its 2018-2019 season, one that continues its focus on bold productions of classic operas, fascinating contemporary perspectives, and the best in American artistry. The season includes a new WNO production of Verdi's classic romantic drama La traviata, the company premiere of Kevin Puts's and Mark Campbell's Pulitzer Prize-winning Silent Night, Tchaikovsky's epic Eugene Onegin, Gounod's devilishly entertaining Faust, and Puccini's towering masterpiece Tosca. The season also features a weekend of four world premieres during the American Opera Initiative Festival; a revival of WNO's hit world-premiere holiday family opera The Lion, the Unicorn, and Me; a special Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist performance of La traviata; and other exciting vocal events, including the annual Mars, lnc.'s Opera in the Outfield.
