Today marks 50 years since Company first opened on Broadway. The current production of Company is flashing back to the original, with this video of the cast recording the title number for the cast album.

Company is officially in previews on Broadway!  Following the engagement in London's West End, the new production of Sondheim and George Furth's landmark American musical, Company, directed by two-time Tony Award® winner Marianne Elliott comes to Broadway starring Tony and Grammy Award® winner Katrina Lenk as Bobbie and two-time Tony Award and two-time Grammy Award winner Patti LuPone as Joanne.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, actress Lynn Cohen who gained fame in 'Sex and the City' and 'The Hunger Games' died on February 14th. Cohen has appeared in over 120 movies as well as a string of Broadway and Off-Broadway plays and television appearances. She was 86. HB Studio, one of New York's original acting studios, has announced UTA HAGEN at 100, a series of special events and workshops celebrating the centenary of its master teacher, the legendary actress and activist Uta Hagen. UTA HAGEN at 100, honoring the three-time Tony Award winning actress and her legacy as a pioneering theater artist, activist and master teacher of HB Studio, will kick off on Monday, February 25 with a series of centennial events. The celebration will culminate on Monday, June 10 with a centennial gala honoring the actress, whose 100th birthday is Wednesday, June 12.

The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC) a production of The Present Company presents Stranger Than A Rhino, a contemporary reimagining of Ionesco's Rhinoceros with themes of race, culture and xenophobia, written by Robert Siegel.  William Roudebush directs a cast of eight, including Vick Krishna, Jeremy Lister, Barbara Matovu, Amanda McCallum, Leslie Lynn Meeker, Charles Rubey, David Shakopi and Scott Zimmerman.

Last night The York Theatre Company honored the musical theatre writing team of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt in a Fantastick gala concert and award ceremony directed by Richard Jay-Alexander. The 2017 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre was presented to the legendary team (The Fantasticks, I Do, I Do!, 110 in the Shade, Celebration) at the event held at the Asia Society on Park Ave in NYC and BroadwayWorld was there. Today, the Actors' Equity Foundation honored Katrina Lenk for her work in The Band's Visit and Indecent as well as Will Pullen from Sweat with the 2017 Clarence Derwent Award. In addition, the annual Actors' Equity Foundation Award honored union members Barbara Barrie for her work in Broadway's Significant Other and Anthony Chisholm for his work in this past season's riveting Jitney.

Today, Broadway says goodbye to two productions that brought new forms of art to the theatre scene: Sunday in the Park with George, and Significant Other.

Producers of Broadway's critically acclaimed, SIGNIFICANT OTHER, announces that it will play its final performance on Sunday, April 23rd at 7 PM.   SIGNIFICANT OTHER, currently playing at The Booth Theatre (222 West 45th St.), officially opened Thursday, March 2nd, and at the time of closing will have played a total of 79 performances.

The new Broadway musical, Amelie, a new musical based on the beloved five-time Oscar-nominated film, opened just last night at the Walter Kerr Theatre, marking Tony nominee Phillipa Soo's return to Broadway. BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the red carpet below!
