No matter how many viewings, there is something about the characters of these beloved Christmas programs that feels familiar and right. Nowadays, it seems that everything old is constantly being rebooted, updated, adapted, reimagined, etc. etc., so on and so forth. Any time something is re-imagined or adapted into something else, such as the many new Broadway musicals based on Hollywood movies, it can be a risky proposition. In the case of The Gamm Theatre's live radio play version of the classic movie It's a Wonderful Life, the adaptation is pulled off perfectly, honoring and respecting the source material while doing it in a creative, imaginative and immensely entertaining way.
God Bless us, everyone! My childhood came back to me while witnessing the holiday classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This annual production by Actors Theatre of Louisville hit all the high notes on opening night and delivered a magical feast for the eyes, ears, and heart. After four decades this production still thrills and delivers the message of redemption and kindness from the past, present, and future. I was so happy to experience it among many families and I especially enjoyed hearing and seeing children's reactions to the show.

The female cast is backed by an all-female band, the 'Ladies in Waiting.' Songs from the studio album are streamed on average 400,000 times per day, making it the second highest streaming cast recording in the world.
If you're in need of a brief sojourn away from London this Christmas period, then I've little hesitation in recommending the Mill at Sonning's Singin' in the Rain. With a fine cast, you'll be hard pressed to find a more impressive show in London than this production.

Frank Capra directs this holiday classic for the whole family, a beloved story of redemption and second chances, with James Stewart as George Bailey, a man at the end of his rope one Christmas Eve. Donna Reed co-stars as Mary Hatch, the high-school sweetheart who became his wife.
