Director Brian McDonald does a nice job of keeping the actors rotating around the multiple microphones on stage (or having them add and remove costuming items) to distinguish between multiple characters. The staging is dynamic and the sight gags are clever, and the actors give pleasant and efficient performances, bringing out the warmth and hopefulness of this holiday tale. Ensemble's production highlights humor and heart for an agreeable, well-produced night of festive entertainment.

I had the pleasure of seeing Waitress on its North American tour this past weekend at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, California. I was truly blown away by all aspects of the performance. It had me smiling and laughing throughout, and maybe even shedding a tear or two at times. To be completely honest, I didn't know what to expect going into seeing it.

New Hampshire Theatre Project celebrates the holiday season with a revival of its production of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. Joe Landry has re-envisioned the beloved film classic as a 1940's style radio play. Five seasoned actors bring George, Clarence, Mary and all the residents of Bedford Falls to life on that fateful Christmas Eve - over 40 different roles. The production opens December 20th and runs through December 29th on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. There will also be two additional performances on Saturday, December 21 at 2 pm and Thursday, December 26 at 8 pm.
North Carolina Theatre, the region's premier nonprofit professional theatre, has announced casting for its February production of Kinky Boots, playing February 11-16, 2020 at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.
