Dallas Theater Center announced today the award-winning cast and creative team for the world premiere new musical The Fortress of Solitude, a co-production with The Public Theater in New York City. The Fortress of Solitude is based on the nationally best-selling novel of the same name by 2005 MacArthur Fellow Jonathan Lethem. The musical is conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin, with a book by Itamar Moses, and music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. The Fortress of Solitude opens with previews on March 7 and runs through April 6. Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre will celebrate its 44th anniversary with a special fundraising campaign, 'Love For New Federal Theatre.' Celebrity participants and supporters of NFT themselves, including Phylicia Rashad, Spike Lee, Alicia Keys, Melba Moore, Marla Gibbs, Robert Hooks, Roscoe Orman, Ruby Dee, Avery Brooks, Glynn Turman, Kene Holiday, Chadwick Boseman, Petri Hawkins Byrd, Impotep Gary Byrd, Debbie Allen, Lynn Whitfield, Lamman Rucker, John Amos, Robert Townsend, Leslie Uggams, Ted Lange, Andre DeShields, Mike Tyson and Danny Glover, among others, will fans will have the opportunity to order a limited number of personalized Valentine's Day messages. Monday night, for two astonishing SOLD OUT performances, Joe's Pub became the backdrop for BroadwayWorld.com's 10th Anniversary celebration. The show conceived by Robert Diamond and Richard Jay-Alexander boasted talent from Broadway and beyond.

Just last night, BroadwayWorld kicked off our 10th Anniversary concert series with not one, but two triumphant performances of BROADWAYWORLD.COM VISITS OZ at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater. The cast not only donated their time and talent to this amazing double-header event, but also took the time to sign posters for sale to raise additional funds for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. Stars from Mike Tyson, Phylicia Rashad and Alicia Keys to Spike Lee, Danny Glover and Ruby Dee show their love for New York City's acclaimed New Federal Theatre by voicing personalized Valentine's Day messages for fans in this fun, fund-raiser. The "Love for New Federal Theatre" personalized celebrity messages are a $249 donation to the New Federal Theatre and can be purchased from January 12- February 5, 2014 through the website at www.lovefornewfederaltheatre.com.

BroadwayWorld.com and BroadwayWorld Chicago are proud to announce the winners of the fourth annual BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards, the only comprehensive, fan-voted theater awards system in the Chicago area. And the big winner at the 2013 BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards Celebration, held on Wednesday evening, January 8, 2014 at The Call Bar, was the Mary-Arrchie Theatre Company production of 'The Glass Menagerie,' which carried off five of the coveted award Certificates.

After the critical success of its most recent Lucille Lortel Award winning Off-Broadway production of Martin Moran's All the Rage (produced with piece by piece productions), acclaimed company Rising Phoenix Repertory returns to its longtime downtown home with the world premiere of RPR Artistic Director Daniel Talbott's new play Extraordinary Things.

After a six-week hiatus, 'The Norwegians' by C. Denby Swanson will resume Off-Broadway performances on January 9, 2014 at The Drilling Company, 236 West 78th Street. The production, which began Off-off Broadway last season, has had 75 performances so far. It played Off-off Broadway from March 8 to April 14, 2013 and re-opened October 3, 2014 on an Off-Broadway contract. The Off-Broadway run was suspended November 24, 2013 to accommodate a pre-existing commitment for the theater space. Encouraged by solid audience demand, The Drilling Company has decided to resume the Off-Broadway production January 9, 2014 as an open-ended run.

At the gala 45th Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, November 4, Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 'Good People' received the award for Production-Play in a large tier theatre. Principal Actress Mariann Mayberry was also honored for her role in this David Lindsey-Abaire play, which considers the dangerous consequences of holding on to the past or leaving it behind. William Brown received Best Director of a play for Writers Theatre's production of the French farce 'The Liar', adapted by David Ives.

Two-time Tony Award nominee and Broadway legend Andre De Shields, has been invited to be the featured speaker at the Conference of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans (ICFAD). The prestigious conference will take place today, October 25 at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans. De Shields' presentation topic is The Artist As Alchemist. The presentation will be attended by more than 100 Deans and administrators of fine arts colleges and universities from around the world.
