Theatre Communications Group just presented its 2019 Gala, directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer and featuring performances from Oklahoma!'s Ali Stroker, Hadestown's Patrick Page and Eva Noblezada, and Angels in America's Beth Malone.
The Broadway premiere of Hadestown will star Reeve Carney, Andre De Shields, Amber Gray, Eva Noblezada, and Patrick Page. The acclaimed principals come to Broadway direct from Hadestown's sold-out run at London's National Theatre which ended this Saturday.

Casting has been announced for the London production of Broadway-bound Hadestown! It was announced today that Amber Gray and Patrick Page will reprise their original New York Theatre Workshop roles of Persephone and Hades. They will be joined by Reeve Carney as Orpheus, a role he performed alongside Gray and Page at the Citadel Theatre (Edmonton, Canada). New cast members Andre De Shields and Eva Noblezada will take the roles of Hermes and Eurydice, with Rosie Fletcher, Carly Mercedes Dyer, and Gloria Onitiri as the Fates. Completing the cast are Sharif Afifi, Beth Hinton-Lever, Seyi Omooba, Aiesha Pease, Joseph Prouse, Jordan Shaw, and Shaq Taylor.
The Citadel's hit production Hadestown led all shows at the 31st annual Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award nominations. The ground-breaking musical, which received international attention from the New York Times, the Stage (U.K.), and the Globe and Mail, garnered a total of eight nominations, including the Timothy Ryan Award for Outstanding Production of a Musical. Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin received a nod for Outstanding Director for Hadestown, which she co-created with folk musician Anais Mitchell. Amber Gray is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her turn as Persephone in this musical, based on a Greek myth and steeped in the music traditions of American Folk and New Orleans jazz. Liam Robinson is nominated for Outstanding Musical Director, and David Neumann received recognition in the category of Outstanding Choreography or Fight Direction. Tony Award winner Bradley King is nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design. Rachel Hauck received a nomination for Outstanding Set Design and Michael Krass received a nod for Outstanding Costume Design.
