In the past few weeks, we've watched the nominations roll in. Today the final crop of nominees have been revealed, all leading to next week's ultimate announcement- the 2018 Tony nominations.

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories for the 33rd Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be presented on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST.  This year's event will be hosted by actors Laura Benanti and Jason Jones and will once again serve as a benefit for The Actors Fund.

Vineyard Theatre Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce that the critically acclaimed world premiere production of HARRY CLARKE by Obie Award-winner David Cale (LILLIAN), directed by Obie Award-winner Leigh Silverman (VIOLET) and starring Tony Award-winner Billy Crudup (THE COAST OF UTOPIA, Spotlight, Vineyard's THE METAL CHILDREN) will extend for the third time, now playing through Saturday, December 23.

The world premiere of LIGHTS OUT: NAT 'KING' COLE is running now through December 3 at People's Light Theatre. When his groundbreaking NBC variety show failed to attract a national sponsor, Nat 'King' Cole famously declared that 'Madison Avenue is afraid of the dark.' In this theatrical exploration into the soul of an American icon,Colman Domingo and Patricia McGregorimagine Nat as he faces his final Christmastime broadcast, and weighs the advice of his friend Sammy Davis Jr. to 'go out with a bang.'

The production opened Tuesday, November 21 and was named a Critic's Pick by The New York Times with Jesse Green saying the conceit of the play was, Delicious.' Adding, 'What a story. Billy Crudup is having the time of his life in a sly role terrifically suited to his gifts. The production, directed by Leigh Silverman, is just as masterly.'

OSF's journey through Shakespeare's history tetralogy marches on with the second part of Henry IV joining the repertory, with previews beginning July 4. Once again, the Festival's intimate Thomas Theatre will play host to the political intrigue of early 15th-century England.

If you are already a Hathaway fan, you really must not miss this show. If you are not already a fan, prepare to be converted. I walk into the show knowing very little of Donny Hathaway and walk out touched and changed forever. Writer/Performer Kelvin Roston has created a brilliant work of heartbreak, genius and intimacy to terrify and delight patrons of Center Stage.

The ending of WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT, now playing in the Guthrie's Dowling Studio, is unlike anything I've ever seen in theater. It left me shocked, confused, and a little traumatized, but mostly it left me incredibly moved. It's such a powerful and important piece, forcing us to look at the long-lasting effects of colonialism around the world, its parallels with slavery in America, and how difficult it is to talk about racism. But even though the show leaves on a heavy and intense note, it's also really funny and innovative and theater-y too. It fools you into thinking it's a fun look at actors in rehearsal and then sneaks in some serious issues that soon become almost more than one can bear. Fortunately the Guthrie's Level Nine initiative includes what they call Community Engagement Activities, which often means a post-show discussion with the cast or creative team or experts on the subject. Take advantage of this - it's a wonderful opportunity to decompress and process what you've just seen, and begin a conversation.

The Tempest will run for four performances from Friday, March 3 to Sunday, March 5 at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre.
