In 2002, Adrien Brody became the youngest person ever to win an Academy Award for Best Actor, at age 29. He's a household name for that role, as Polish pianist and composer Wladyslaw Szpilman, in Roman Polanski's The Pianist. And he has since gone on to star in films such as Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited (2007) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong (2005), and Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011). But two years ago, Brody decided it was time to devote himself to a passion he had long neglected: painting.

Theater For the New City has announced that it will present the world premiere of THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT, a new play by Walter Corwin that spotlights the wrongdoings against women since the Garden of Eden through the present day and suggests the problems a woman president could face, running tonight, November 2nd, through 13th in the Cabaret at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th Streets).

An invitation-only reading of the new musical PopStar will take place on Thursday, October 20 (2pm) and Friday, October 21 (11am) at Pearl Studios (500 Eighth Avenue, Studio #1204).
