The New Black Fest and The Lark, two theater organizations dedicated to celebrating and advocating for extraordinary and diverse stories, have announced the third annual The New Black Fest at The Lark.

Going on over three years of their witty, rowdy and hilarious monthly improv show, LPNSImprov takes the stage with MAKIN' A MOVIE: The MaD JaCKRaTS in The MaD PaDDy's Day Celebration Show! on Sunday March 19th at 7:30pm at Theater 68 (5112 Lankershim Blvd. North Hollywood 91601). The winners of the Costume Designers Guild Awards were announced last night at a ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton.

Theater for the New City, Crystal Field, Executive Director, presents Grand Theft Musical, a world premiere musical based on Robert Sickinger's 1994 musical Platinum Taps, with music composed by John Taylor Thomas. 

Theater for the New City takes you to the past where theater ghosts enlighten the present in Ghost Light Now & Then, a new play by Barbara Kahn.

The nominations for the Costume Designers Guild Awards were announced today. The awards celebrate the best in film, television and short form costume design.

This will be an absolutely unique opportunity to develop your skills with one of the most accomplished production designers in the Film Industry.

In 2002, Adrien Brody became the youngest person ever to win an Academy Award for Best Actor, at age 29. He's a household name for that role, as Polish pianist and composer Wladyslaw Szpilman, in Roman Polanski's The Pianist. And he has since gone on to star in films such as Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited (2007) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong (2005), and Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011). But two years ago, Brody decided it was time to devote himself to a passion he had long neglected: painting.

Theater For the New City has announced that it will present the world premiere of THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT, a new play by Walter Corwin that spotlights the wrongdoings against women since the Garden of Eden through the present day and suggests the problems a woman president could face, running tonight, November 2nd, through 13th in the Cabaret at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th Streets).

An invitation-only reading of the new musical PopStar will take place today, October 21 (11am) at Pearl Studios (500 Eighth Avenue, Studio #1204).
