BWW Review: 13 THE MUSICAL at Des Moines Young Artist Theatre: There is Nothing Awkward Abut This Amazing Production

Becoming a teenager is a moment kids look up to. Growing up, we see teenagers as grown-up and cool, but we find out when we turn 13, that is all wrong. Des Moines Young Artist Theatre production of a?oe13,a?? with a book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, examines the up and down a group of students goes through as they turn 13. While this can be one of the most awkward times in a person's life, there is nothing awkward about this amazing production!

BWW Review: Stephen Sondheim/John Weidman's ROAD SHOW Explores Reinvention and Resiliency

When he passed on at age 60 in 1933, Addison Mizner was best known as the architect whose Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean style helped define the emerging visual culture of South Florida. When his younger brother Wilson Mizner died two months later, he was best known as a raconteur whose name could occasionally be found among the writing credits of a Broadway play or Hollywood feature.

Directed and choreographed by Will Davis, with music direction by James Moore, Road Show tells the somewhat true story of the Mizner brothers who inherit a small fortune at the turn of the 20th Century and set out to grab their piece of the American Dream in a country where anything seems possible. The production will star Chuck Cooper (Papa Mizner), Raúl Esparza (Wilson Mizner), Jin Ha (Hollis Bessemer), Mary Beth Peil (Mama Mizner), and Brandon Uranowitz (Addison Mizner).

Off-Center Artistic Director Anne Kauffman and Director Will Davis to discuss the making of this production.

The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will charm audiences at The Gateway with its Tony, Grammy and Academy Award winning Best Score, including 'My Favorite Things,' 'Do-Re-Mi,' 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain,' 'Edelweiss' and the title song, 'The Sound of Music.'

B. MOORE DANCE Makes Its Company Debut in 3D VISION

B. MOORE DANCE presents its inaugural concert debut with an evening-length work, choreographed by Dallas native and FounderArtistic Director, Bridget L. Moore. NISSI, emerging from pre-existing works created by Moore, is a choreographic dialogue between the cultural harmonies of sound and movement.

This beloved family musical features Elliot Norton and IRNE Award winner Aimee Doherty as 'Maria' - a free spirit who is struggling in her commitment to become a nun; when she is sent to look after the seven children of a widowed Navy captain by the Mother Abbess, she brings joy and music into the family's home and changes all she comes in contact with. IRNE nominee Mark Linehan is featured as Captain Von Trapp. Directed and Choreographed by Daniel Forest Sullivan, Music Director Dan Rodriguez, Produced by Robert J. Eagle.
