IAMA Theatre Company opens its 2018-19 season with a darkly comic celebration of the power of teamwork and unity to overcome adversity. James Eckhouse directs the Los Angeles premiere ofAmerican Hero, opening Sept. 21 in aPasadena Playhouse guest production at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre. Performances will continue through Oct. 21, with low-priced previews beginning Sept. 15.

Last night, August 23, Sara Bareilles joined Nicolette Robinson, Broadway's upcoming Jenna in Waitress, to host Cast Album Karaoke! Audience members were invited to sign up before the performance for a chance to sing one minute of any song in the show accompanied by musical director Nadia DiGiallonardo.

The cast of the Yiddish language production of Fiddler on the Roof have welcomed some special guests throughout their run. The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), recently nominated for a 2018 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical Revivial (Amerike-The Golden Land), has completed its casting for the American premiere of the Yiddish language Fiddler on the Roof. Helmed by Academy Award and Tony Award winner Joel Grey, and accompanied by English and Russian translation supertitles, this highly-anticipated 8-week limited engagement, July 4th through August 26th, is set to play Off Broadway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.

The Sarasota Film Festival (SFF) today announced its full line-up, including its Centerpiece, Spotlight, Narrative Feature Competition, Independent Visions Competition, Documentary Feature Competition, Narrative, Documentary, and Short Films. Musicals Tonight!'s 20th Anniversary Spring Season opener of Rodgers and Hart's The Boys From Syracuse, begins performances Tuesday, February 13th at The Lion Theatre on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street).  The comedy farce about mistaken identity, as adapted by George Abbott, will play a limited engagement through February 25th.  The Boys From Syracuse is directed and choreographed by Jonathan Cerullo who has given the musical a  fresh new take with men cast in almost all of the female roles for the very first time.  Tickets are $45 and can be purchased through www.telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200.

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals announced the features lineup and opening night film for the 25th edition of the Film Festival, running March 9-18, 2018 in Austin, Texas. The acclaimed program draws thousands of fans, filmmakers, press, and industry leaders every year to immerse themselves in the most innovative, smart and entertaining new films of the year.

Two concert productions that explore the Yiddish theatre's golden age will be presented by the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) this season. Early Yiddish Theatre and Vaudeville will be presented on February 11 at 2 pm. From the Yiddish Rialto to the Silver Screen will be performed on March 11 at 2 pm. Both will be performed Off Broadway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, Edmond J. Safra Plaza, 36 Battery Place, NYC.

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), the longest consecutively producing theatre in the United States and the world's oldest continuously operating Yiddish theatre company, today launched its Spring-Summer 2018 season, including the American premiere of Fiddler on The Roof in Yiddish.

During an evening when Mabel Mercer Foundation President and New York Cabaret Convention Producer KT Sullivan devoted a number of opening night spots in the 28th year of the four-day extravaganza (October 16-19 at Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center) to a younger generation of singers and a few veterans making their Convention debuts, the Grande Dame of Cabaret was the star of the night.

The Mabel Mercer Foundation has announced that it will implement a special 'Rush' ticket policy for their 2017 Cabaret Convention, to be held at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, from Monday through Thursday, October 16th - 19th.

Barry Levitt the acclaimed pianist, conductor, composer, musical director and mensch passed away on September 21 after suffering a massive heart attack at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on Sept 21st.
