IAMA Theatre Company opens its 2018-19 season with a darkly comic celebration of the power of teamwork and unity to overcome adversity. James Eckhouse directs the Los Angeles premiere ofAmerican Hero, opening Sept. 21 in aPasadena Playhouse guest production at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre. Performances will continue through Oct. 21, with low-priced previews beginning Sept. 15.

Last night, August 23, Sara Bareilles joined Nicolette Robinson, Broadway's upcoming Jenna in Waitress, to host Cast Album Karaoke! Audience members were invited to sign up before the performance for a chance to sing one minute of any song in the show accompanied by musical director Nadia DiGiallonardo.

We're getting some fresh faces in the diner! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Katie Lowes ('Scandal') and actor/director Adam Shapiro (Steve Jobs) will join the company of Waitress tonight, July 17 in the roles of Dawn and Ogie, respectively. This real-life married couple will both make their Broadway debuts in the show, and will get to fall in love with each other again eight times a week on stage. Waitress currently stars Katharine McPhee as Jenna, and Erich Bergen as Dr. Pomatter.

The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), recently nominated for a 2018 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical Revivial (Amerike-The Golden Land), has completed its casting for the American premiere of the Yiddish language Fiddler on the Roof. Helmed by Academy Award and Tony Award winner Joel Grey, and accompanied by English and Russian translation supertitles, this highly-anticipated 8-week limited engagement, July 4th through August 26th, is set to play Off Broadway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
