The Public Theater announced today the return of WHAT DO WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT? Conversations on Zoom, written and directed by Tony Award winner Richard Nelson.

While the COVID-19 pandemic may have closed down live performances, The Human Race has not let it stop them from presenting their Playreading Series - this time as a virtual reading of a new play by Yellow Springs playwright Robb Willoughby called Look Into My Eyes. This streaming reading will benefit The Foodbank, a vital organization solving hunger in the Miami Valley - especially now!

Just last night, The Public Theater presented the world premiere of WHAT DO WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT? Conversations on Zoom, a new play in the Rhinebeck Panorama, written and directed by Tony Award winner Richard Nelson. Commissioned by The Public Theater and written by Nelson from his home in Rhinebeck, New York, during the COVID-19 pandemic, this unique theatrical experience was performed as a benefit for The Public Theater.

On Friday, March 13th, Barbara Richardson, Executive Director of Metropolitan Performing Arts (MPA), steps onto the stage taking on the role of the witch in INTO THE WOODS. The show, which first opened on Broadway in 1987, was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won three, including those for Best Book (James Lapine) and Best Score (Stephen Sondheim). Barbara isn't the only MPA staff member to be part of the show. Portraying the role of The Baker is MPA music teacher Kaleb Burris. The Wolf/Cinderella's Prince is portrayed by Ryan Mayfield, an MPA alumni and choreographer. MPA set designer, Mark Martin plays the Mysterious Man and stage combat instructor Kellan Connolly portrays Rapunzel's Prince. The production is directed by Kris Heller with music direction by Ian Timmons and choreography by Ryan Mayfield and Shannon Jung.
