Little Door Theatre will present their unique take take on William Shakespeare's Othello. This story traces the tragic downfall of Othello, a Moor and a mercenary who became general of the Venetian armies. He angers Iago, one of his high ranking soldiers, when he passes him over for promotion in favor of the untested gentleman soldier Michael Cassio. In his jealousy, Iago seeks an opportunity to ruin both men and finds it by utilizing his skills in manipulation. William Shakespeare's Othello is a timeless, tragic tale of love, deceit, jealousy and murder. In a twist on the classic, LDT will be setting the tragedy in a puppet theatre, with Iago the 'puppet mastermind' behind the whole operation.

Gender roles, nature and politics are confused in a play that reflects on how bewildering yet utterly pleasurable life can be. Little Door Theatre's production takes place in 2018, and displays how relatable and accessible the play is to modern audiences. Director JM Ethridge uses movement, music, and beautiful scenery to set the stage for her 16 talented Metro Detroit-based actors as they build Shakespeare's world of power, comedy, and love.
