Review: WAIT UNTIL DARK Ramps Up The Tension At TheatreWorks New Milford

'Wait Until Dark' plucks the strings of your anxieties one by one until your muscles are screaming for the inevitable crash of expectation that comes at the end of a thrilling work of art. But a script can’t do it on its own. It needs the right cast, the right crew, and the right moment to come to life and enrapture an audience in the way that only live theater can.

WAIT UNTIL DARK Comes to TheatreWorks New Milford This Week

On Friday March 29, TheatreWorks New Milford will present the classic thriller Wait Until Dark by Frederick Knott, adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher.

Previews: FALL FESTIVAL OF NEW WORKS at Theatre Artists Workshop

Outside New York City, it is Connecticut that has almost an embarrassment of riches when it comes to theater. Forty years ago, a group of actors, writers and directors, including Keir Dullea and his late wife Susie Fuller, founded Theatre Artists Workshop as a place where they could experiment and cultivate new works, hone their skills, and work with their peers in a place that is safe from the glare of the public spotlight.

BWW Review: ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST at Ridgefield Theater Barn

On Friday, June 7, I had the pleasure of seeing ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST at the Ridgefield Theater Barn in Ridgefield, CT.  This brilliantly written and phenomenally performed dark drama is based on the novel by Ken Kesey and adapted for the stage by Dale Wasserman.  Director Kevin Sosbe brings the best out in this strong cast of actors and actresses whose talents blend together well, creating a show that excels in generating intense feeling and emotion from the captivated audience.

BWW Review: Big 'Mac' Is One-Man Show in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST at Ridgefield Theater Barn

In the airless unfunny farm over which dour Nurse Ratched presides, McMurphy appears to foment anarchy. Yet, given the oppressive circumstances, the only thing subversive in his intention is to restore a sense of dignity and free will to those he views as the downtrodden -- captives of a rigged system that is oblivious to their best interests.
