A crowdfunding campaign to create an endowed scholarship to honor the late Broadway actor Trent Armand Kendall has been launched by Kaitlin Hopkins the head of the BFA Musical Theatre program at Texas State University, and her husband and faculty member Jim Price, who were long time friends of Kendall and one-time cast mates with him on the hit musical Batboy.

Trent Armand Kendall enjoyed a long and thriving career as writer/producer, actor, front man, international headliner, recording artist and radio host. HIs Broadway credits included The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Hair, Into the Woods, and the Actors Fund concert of Chess.

ASCAP Award-winning writer/producer Chip Deffaa's new CD, 'Gay Love'--being released June 29th--will features such  Broadway notables as Stephen Bogardus ('Bright Star'), Lee Roy Reams ('La Cage Aux Folles'), John Tartaglia ('Avenue Q'), Kristy Cates ('Charlie and the Chocolate Factory') and Jon Peterson ('Cabaret'), plus such top nightclub and cabaret stars as Seth Sikes,  Baby Jane Dexter, and Tom Andersen.

The Gateway Playhouse closes out an amazing and busy Summer season with a superb production of the musical Little Shop Of Horrors. This incarnation runs at the Bellport venue through September 9th boasting an outstanding Broadway caliber cast. Based on the classic 1960 film, book writer Howard Ashman pens - and writes the lyrics for - the theatre staple's heartfelt story. And Alan Menken's music is a fun fusion of 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and Motown. The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE (Mark Brokaw, Artistic Director) announces the creative teams and casting for the two original book musicals, COWBOY BOB, created by Molly Beach Murphy, Jeanna Phillips, and Annie Tippe, book by Molly Beach Murphy, music and lyrics by Jeanna Phillips; and GUMBO, music by Brett Macias and book and lyrics by Christina Quintana, conceived by Brett Macias and Christina Quintana, which are being developed in an intensive two-week summer lab at Yale School of Drama, June 13-24. Scott Frankel is the Artistic Advisor, and Catherine Sheehy is the resident Dramaturg for this year's Institute, which culminates with open rehearsal readings of each project, presented as part of New Haven's International Festival of Arts & Ideas on June 23 and 24.
