In the 2010-2011 season, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT was honored with three Best Musical award nominations from the Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle Award organizations. Olivier Award nominee Tony Sheldon has also received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical in addition to Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League nominations and the Theatre World Award for outstanding Broadway debut. Sheldon was also honored with a Tony nomination as were costume designers Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner, who took home the prize.
In celebration of the nominations, the company took the stage at the 2011 Tony Awards on Sunday with a performance of 'It's Raining Men' with the song's composer Paul Shaffer and original songstress Martha Wash. At a press conference held June 7 at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 171 nominations for 197 eligible productions that opened between June 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011 for the 32nd annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards which honour excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.

Tony Sheldon, star of the exciting new Broadway transfer PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, recently chatted with Broadway Beat about the long journey that he has taken with the show. Sheldon reveals, 'I did the very first workshop when it was just a 10 day experiment to see whether the film would transplant onto the stage. And by the end of the 10 days when we presented it, we realized this show has legs. So that was when I actively committed to wanting to do the show, but then I had to audition- along with everybody else.'
