For their 20th season, BYMT will fully produce seven brand new British musicals and develop another seven new musical theatre ideas in week-long camps - working with venues, creatives and young people from across the United Kingdom. Learn more about the season lineup here!

Directed by Roy Alexander Weise, the project is structurally disruptive but ultimately too meandering and overlong. A narrator (Rochelle Rose) lays the tropes bare with bitter observations. She amplifies the intentional faux pas, but the framework gets a bit stodgy by the second round of narrative repetition.

Production photos have been released for The Doncastrian Chalk Circle which takes place at Cast in Doncaster on 27 – 29th August 2022. Filled with passion, hope and humour, this new musical version of Brecht’s classic is adapted by Chris Bush, with music by Ruth Chan and directed by James Blakey. 

The National Theatre has announced two further productions to be staged this winter, Shakespeare's Othello and Kerry Jackson a new play by April De Angelis, both going on sale to the public on 21 July.

The National Theatre has today announced its programming until the start of next year with productions on all three South Bank stages as well as three major UK tours, two productions on Broadway, a return to cinemas, and a new feature film to be broadcast on television this autumn. Headlong today announce the full cast for Hedda Tesman which will receive its world premiere at Chichester Festival Theatre before playing at The Lowry, Salford.

With over 725 stories to choose from, the eight writers we commissioned to reimagine Aesop's Fables were spoilt for choice. Each of the writers has had their own unique take on them - from Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig's joyful musical with a crow chorus through to as piece by Chris Goode which takes the basis of a rehearsal room and then smashes through the fourth wall with an act of animalistic rebellion.

The Unicorn will be continuing their hugely popular workshops this summer holidays. Led by professional theatre-makers, participants can learn great new skills and make new friends. From dance, set design, drama, puppetry and more. Workshops range from a day or two days, through to the five day Play In A Week workshops. The performance-based workshops close with a sharing for friends and family.

Unicorn Artistic Director Justin Audibert and Associate Director Rachel Bagshaw direct a series of eight newly commissioned plays from leading voices in theatre based on Aesop's Fables classic tales. They will play in repertory to two age groups, one for ages 4-7 and one for ages 8-12.

Later this year, the three Shakespeare productions from the Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) Summer 2019 Stratford season transfer to the Barbican from 26 October 2019. The Company features 27 actors, who each appear across two of the three productions:
