As summer comes to a close, many regional theaters are preparing to get their new seasons started - for many, this season still carries with it a lot of risk - some of the shows in their season are still shows they had intended to do at some point during the pandemic, and segments of the audience are still hesitant to return to their seats.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley has announced the appointment of veteran arts administrator Debbie Chinn as its new Executive Director.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will present the World Premiere of Jessica Dickey’s Nan and the Lower Body, an audience favorite at TheatreWorks’ 2019 New Works Festival.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will stage the Bay Area Premiere of Hershey Felder’s musical play Hershey Felder: Chopin in Paris. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 51st season with the hit musical Ragtime. This sweeping and stirring musical masterpiece paints a portrait of America at the dawn of the twentieth century, interweaving the lives of three families—an African American family, a Jewish Immigrant family, and a wealthy white family—finding their places and pursuing the American Dream in a rapidly changing world. Featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Terrence McNally (Master Class, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Rink) and a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Once on This Island, Anastasia, Seussical The Musical), this musical is based on E. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley announced today that Executive Director Phil Santora will step down from TheatreWorks in June 2022, concluding a tenure of fifteen years.

In this role, Cisneros will engage TheatreWorks’ communities, lead its work in arts education, community partnerships, and accessibility, create and manage community responsive programs that promote diversity and individual creativity, and work with students and educators in TheatreWorks venues and at schools.

Scallywags set sail across the seven seas to swarm a swashbuckling soiree as TheatreWorks Silicon Valley hosted its spring fundraiser, The Pirates of the Shores of Redwood. Donning tricorn hats, head scarves, and other pirate finery, the party pirates feasted on fancy grub, indulged in grog and other spirits, plundered a bounty of priceless treasures and once-in-a-lifetime adventures, and enjoyed rollicking musical performances in a nautical night of merriment and hijinks to support the Tony Award-winning theatre company as it prepares to resume in-person performances this Fall.

This spring, Bay Area kids aged 5 and up will learn tools for identifying and combatting racism with TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's virtual school tour of A Kid's Play About Racism, based on the book by Jelani Memory.
