Theater for the New City will present two operas by Leonard J. Lehrman, offering audiences parallel stories of Jewish survival and political activism. The productions include the New York City premiere of Sima and a revival of E.G.: A Musical Portrait of Emma Goldman. Both works will run in repertory and examine themes of trauma, identity, and resistance.

BxO's Season 48 comes to a close with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's sequel to the Barber of Seville. The Marriage of Figaro follows the married and bored Count Almaviva, and his continued philandering. This time he has chosen his wife's maid to satiate his carnal desires. Only one thing stands in his way… her fiancée… FIGARO... no longer a barber, now the Count's right-hand man. Mozart's “folle journée” (crazy day) includes appearances by a slimy music master out for revenge, a scheming spinster, a drunken gardener, and numerous… and amorous… cohorts.

Violetta must leave her love at the behest of his upper-class father and family. Will Violetta die alone and in poverty? Will Alfredo ever know the truth?
