The LAB Theater Project will present Fire Thief by Laura Hirshberg.  Based on a Greek myth, this new drama explores the path of the titan Prometheus as he sacrifices his place on Mt. Olympus to bring fire to mankind.  The story illuminates the joy and pain that inspiration and creativity can bring to creators and to those around them.

Closing this weekend is The Rooster’s Tale, a new play by Paula Fell.  Based on “true” events in Medieval England, this riotous play uses timeless humor (with a bit of buffoonery), classic wordplay, and a very unlikely event to illustrate one humble family’s path to triumph through some very contemporary problems.

LAB Theater Project  will present its annual fundraising event LAB Laughs 2023, with 6 original, never performed comedic shorts, running Jan 19 thru 22 (Thursday through Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 3 pm), at 812 E Henderson Avenue in Ybor City. 

LAB Theater Project is pleased to present the world premiere of The Abbey of the Holy Lonesome, by Andra Laine Hunter.  The play is a spooky but lyrical tale of longing and repression, enchantment and treachery, told with a poetic sensibility and a finely crafted sense of its isolated, back-woods location.

It's structurally a mess, but well worth your time to explore.

LAB Theater Project will present Creating Monsters, a new play by Tampa playwright Owen Roberson.  Set in 1816, the play explores the turmoil surrounding Mary Shelley that influenced her creation of the monster in her masterpiece, Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus, a story that has been electrifying the public through multiple media for over 200 years.

LAB Theater Project will present its first musical It Started with a Kiss, a new play by Tampa's own Mike Deeson and James Rayfield. This timeless work explores the deepening of young love and the forces that conspire against it, through the clarity and expressiveness of country music.

The Sugar Ridge Rag, a play by Philip Middleton Williams, premiered at LAB Theater Project in Tampa’s Historic Ybor City on April 28, 2022. The story is a complex, yet simplistic study of the life of an average family in rural Ohio, and what lies at the depths of family values and the definition of true love. From the synopsis found on the Playbill; Pete and Dave Granger, age 17, are twin brothers in rural northwest Ohio in 1970. Dave enlists in the Army; Pete goes to Canada to pursue his career in music. Over the next five years, their lives are changed by the Vietnam War and the choices they made. Deb and Hal, their parents, are left to deal with the consequences of their actions and their future as a family.
