Owen Panettieri Biography
Owen Panettieri is the writer of the award-winning Vestments of the Gods (Winner - Overall Excellence in Ensemble. 2014 FringeNYC) and The Timing of a Day (Winner - Outstanding New Play 2010, Talkin' Broadway, Summer Theatre Festival Citations). His additional full-length plays include Whatever The Weather (Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s 2017 National Playwrights Conference Finalist), A Burial Place (World Premiere 2016, Dorothy Strelsin Theatre) and Who’s There? (The Fresh Fruit Festival’s 2018 Outwright Developmental Play Reading Selection).Short plays and one acts produced across the country include More Than a Memory, Processing, Searching, Our View From Paradise, Calendar Girl, A Charmed Life, and The President is Gay! (And Other Delicious Scandals). Owen was a contributing Writer/Performer for four seasons with The Nitestar Program (currently known as S.T.A.R. at the Directors Company) creating original health theater pieces for primary school, secondary school and college audiences in the Tri-State area.
He co-wrote the web series Legally Brown: The Search for the Next Piragua Guy with Lin-Manuel Miranda. Owen is a graduate of Wesleyan University and the Conservatory Program at The Actors Center. He is currently a member of the Playwrights Gallery Writers Group and resident artist of New Light Theatre Project. He lives in New York City.

New Light Theater Project has announced an array of free virtual events this October that range from new work to radio dramas to panel discussions. Kicking off the virtual season is a presentation of songs from a new musical in development, METROPOLIS an Afrofuturist Musical, written by AriDy Nox and Brandon Webster, directed by Zhailon Levingston.

Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director) will begin 2020 with The Tourist Trap plays. Seven playwrights have been challenged to write a brand spanking new short play using a tourist trap (Mount Rushmore, Hollywood Sign, etc) as a springboard. This will be the ninth installment of short play premieres under Urban Stages New Pages' facilitated by Bara Swain. The program provides increased visibility and networking opportunities to playwrights at all career levels as well as free public programming.
