New Light Theater Project has announced an array of free virtual events this October that range from new work to radio dramas to panel discussions. Kicking off the virtual season is a presentation of songs from a new musical in development, METROPOLIS an Afrofuturist Musical, written by AriDy Nox and Brandon Webster, directed by Zhailon Levingston.

Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director) will begin 2020 with The Tourist Trap plays. Seven playwrights have been challenged to write a brand spanking new short play using a tourist trap (Mount Rushmore, Hollywood Sign, etc) as a springboard. This will be the ninth installment of short play premieres under Urban Stages New Pages' facilitated by Bara Swain. The program provides increased visibility and networking opportunities to playwrights at all career levels as well as free public programming.

Baruch Performing Arts Center, along with New York-based theater company Blessed Unrest and Teatri ODA of Kosovo, will co-present the World Premiere of Refuge from April 25 - May 11 @ 7:30, with a variable weekly schedule and a 5pm performance Sun May 5 (Opening Night April 27) at Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue (25 Street between Third and Lexington Avenues), NYC.

New Light Theater Project (Sarah Norris, Artistic Director; Michael Aguirre, Producing Director; Jacob Perkins, Literary Manager) will present their most ambitious season to date with five NYC premieres in its 2018-2019 season, all exploring the theme: "A History, Rewritten."

All-Out Arts and the acclaimed Fresh Fruit Festival will celebrate notable selections from last year's Fresh Fruit Festival. 'It was a very powerful season,' said Louis Lopardi, the executive producer of the festival. 'It's fitting for our 15th year. So many amazing works,' he continued. 'And looking forward to one of most exiting seasons to come!' he concluded.

Presented by New Light Theater Project, in association with 5000 Broadway Productions, A Burial Place recently opened at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre and marks Director Joey Brenneman's third collaboration with its playwright. This play, representing what true camaraderie is among three childhood friends who come together for a much anticipated night of fun, in its simplicity really brings up quite a few thoughts about what friendship really means; it also made me quite curious to know how the idea for this plot came about. True friendship is almost an agreement among people to share the essence of themselves with others who are either like them or make the world a bit more pleasant because others are part of their existence; it creates a bond that, even if not renewed, stays in unquestionable tact. But does it ever go too far - what happens if who you are, what you try to be and try to understand makes the whole thing just too difficult to bear? What if friendship becomes more of a burden than a joy, especially when you can't know why the past continues to haunt you so?
