BWW Review: A Jubilant HELLO DOLLY! at Shea's Buffalo Theatre
by Michael Rabice - Mar 11, 2020

Many may think that the heartwarming and brassy American musical comedy of yore with it's hummable tunes will never be seen again. That the days of star driven shows have dried up. The era when the names of Mary Martin, Ethel Merman, or Carol Channing all but guaranteed a hit musical. Now producers are wary of putting all of their eggs in one basket, relying on a star to stick with a show until it recoups it's investment. Happily...... no, joyously...... Broadway producer Scott Rudin was able to engage superstar Bette Midler for a year in the first revival of HELLO DOLLY! ever to happen on Broadway without Carol Channing

Children's Theatre Company Presents SPAMTOWN, USA
by Stephi Wild - Jan 14, 2020

Children's Theatre Company (CTC) has announced the world premiere production of Spamtown, USA, running February 16, 2020 through April 5, 2020, written by Philip Dawkins and directed by Will Davis. The playwright met with and interviewed 25 people who were children in the city of Austin, Minnesota during the P-9 Strike against Hormel in the 1980s to gather their stories and perspectives. The play explores how pivotal events that occurred during the strike affected relationships inside and between three families. While five kids dream of space camp, tennis teams, and out-of-state college, they find their families and community suddenly divided by picket lines and opposing agendas. This is the story of having the strength to stand up for what you believe in, the challenge that comes in disagreeing with those you love, and the humor that helps keep friendships alive.

BWW Review: DAMN YANKEES a Hit Out of The Park
by Dylan Shaffer - Jul 7, 2016

Baseball players doing pirouettes is not a typical pregame warm-up many major leaguers have, but that certainly doesn't stop the cast of Pittsburgh CLO's Damn Yankees from dancing their shoes off from left field to right, or rather, stage left to right. With bats in hand and led by a headstrong female reporter, the men of the Washington Senators deliver a power-packed, energized dance routine in 'Shoeless Joe' that reflects the charisma and passion displayed throughout the entire show.
