Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago’s only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core, presents the world premiere of SPAY by Madison Fiedler, directed by RTE member Hallie Gordon. SPAY runs March 12 - April 17, 2022 at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago. The press opening is Wednesday, March 23 at 7:00pm

Theater J's Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr and Managing Director David Lloyd Olson announce the winner of the 2021 Patty Abramson Jewish Play Prize Maggie Lou Rader with her play The Helpers. The Theater J Patty Abramson Jewish Play Prize awards $3,000 and a stage reading to a promising emerging woman playwright in honor of a new play that celebrates, explores, and/or struggles with the complexities and nuances of the Jewish experience.

BoHo Theatre’s Artistic Director Stephen Schellhardt has announced that he will step down from the position at the end of the 2021 season. Schellhardt first joined the company in 2015 and took over as Artistic Director in 2019.

Florida Repertory Theatre's 2020 PlayLab Festival of New Works continues with a reading of 'A Sherlock Carol' by Mark Shanahan on Dec. 10 at 7 PM, and brings together an all-star cast of Broadway veterans, a Tony-nominee, and Florida Rep's ensemble members. The final event of the festival is the Playwrights' Panel discussion held live on Zoom Dec. 11 at 3:30 PM.

Florida Rep has announced a whole slate of digital offerings as its Fall 2020 Virtual Season. The fall season includes the Stage@Home Virtual Talkback Series (through Oct. 30), the 2020 Virtual PlayLab Festival (Nov. 5-Dec. 11), and a streaming production of 'Clue' starring the theatre's ensemble of professional actors (Oct. 29-Nov. 1).

BoHo Theatre has announced its 16th season, featuring fresh looks at a pair of classic stories. BoHo's 2020 season will feature the musical FALSETTOS by William Finn and James Lapine, followed by Jeffrey Hatcher's new adaptation of Frederick Knott's riveting thriller WAIT UNTIL DARK. BoHo will also continue its partnership with Northwestern University's Next Step Program by staging a reading of a new play by student Nate Hollander.

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble announces its 2020 Season including the World Premieres of The Tasters by Meghan Brown, directed by RTE member Devon de Mayo and Spay by Madison Fiedler and directed by RTE member Hallie Gordon, as well as 45 Plays for America's First Ladies by Chloe Johnston, Sharon Greene, Genevra Gallo-Bayiates, Bilal Dardai, and Andy Bayiates, in a co-production with Chicago's The Neo-Futurists. All productions will be performed at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, is delighted to announce the slate of plays that will be shared during our 18th annual National Showcase of New Plays. NNPN and Core Member Theater Actor's Express with the assistance of members Horizon Theatre Company and Synchronicity Theater will host the National Showcase of New Plays from December 6-8, 2019, presenting readings of six production-ready new plays to more than 150 NNPN Core and Associate Members, Affiliated Artists, and invited guests.

BoHo Theatre is partnering with Northwestern University's Playwriting Program as part of its Next Step Program. This program pairs advanced undergraduate playwrights with professional Chicagoland theaters, who commission them to write a full-length play based a concept or idea provided by the theater.
