On the day he departs to Iraq for his first combat deployment, a soldier discovers his grandfather's life during World War II in a forgotten box of letters, in L.S. Goldberg's Yesterday Iran/Today Iraq. Based on actual World War II letters and conversations with Iraq War veterans, Yesterday Iran/Today Iraq will be performed at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre at 312 West 36th Street, 1st floor, on Wednesday, July 24th at 9:30pm, Thursday, July 25th at 6pm, and Friday, July 26th at 7:30pm. Utah Shakespeare Festival Quilt on Display at Frontier Homestead State Park Museum


The Utah Shakespeare Festival has a special quilt on display for the Block by Block: Stories of Common Threads exhibit at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum, which will run until December 31. The quilt was created by the Festival's first costume designer from the Festival's inaugural season in 1962.

GPR Records, the new CD label specializing in Broadway, classical, spoken word and children's music, is sponsoring a poetry contest that will take place on Twitter, called TwItsPoetic, to celebrate National Poetry Month and the release of their first CD Poetic License: 100 Poems by 100 Performers.

Glen Roven, Peter Fitzgerald, and Richard Cohen recently announced the formation of a new CD label, GPR Records, (www.GPRRecords.com), which will record and distribute Broadway, classical, spoken word, and children's music. GPR aims to surprise listeners with recordings that are both unusual and entertaining. Last night on April 4th, the group presented 'Poetic License: 100 Poems by 100 Performers' at The Bowery in celebration of the release of its first recording.
