BWW Review: DISASTER! at Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre at Essex Community College is a HOOT

The Court Jesters Young People's Theatre takes the stage at Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex. They will perform Disney's Aladdin, Jr. July 6 - 14 in the Lecture Hall, at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

Disaster! lovingly pokes fun at two staples of 1970s popular culture: disaster movies like Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure and the disco-heavy pop music of the era. Whether to go is not going to present any great dilemmas. This is a perfect summer evening's smart-alecky entertainment.

 Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex, will perform Disaster! June 14 through June 30 by playwrights Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, concept created by Seth Rudetsky and Drew Geraci, with additional material by Drew Geraci. All performances will be held at the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center, F. Scott Black Theatre, on the Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

Based on the movie Newsies, this production features 33 student actors from Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford County and Prince George's County.

All performances will be held at the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center, Cabaret Theatre, on the Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex, will perform Disney's The Lion King, Jr. from July 6 through July 15. All performances will be held at the Administration Building Lecture Hall on the Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.

Children's Playhouse of MD (CPM), in residence at CCBC Essex, presents the Tony Award winning musical Hairspray as part of its Young Adult Series. Based on Baltimore native John Waters' film, the production features 35 student actors from Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Harford County.

Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at CCBC Essex, will present Seussical, Jr. on the first three weekends in March. The performance is based on books by children's author Dr. Seuss and will be held at the CCBC Essex Administration Building Lecture Hall at 1 p.m. on March 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18. The production features 38 student actors from Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County.

It's all about family dynamics in Christopher Durang's 2013 Tony Award-winning Best Play - Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike - in the Cabaret stage at CCBC Essex from July 22 through Aug. 6.
