The Resident Acting Company, formed four years ago by the actors of the award-winning Pearl Theater Company, is announcing their fall lineup of script in hand performances celebrating Shakespeare and the First Folio at The Players, the historic club and home of the great Shakespearean actor Edwin Booth. The Resident Acting Company, formed three years ago by members of the Pearl Theater Company, has been producing Play Dates With The RAC throughout the pandemic.  The RAC has chosen two plays for this fall that will be first held on Zoom and then performed live.  They picked two plays that they think will resonate in a church setting and reflect a host of our current societal issues, and will also be entertaining.  

The Resident Acting Company has just announced five dates in 2021 for it's extremely popular online series – Play Dates With The RAC.  Audience members read a play, and then join the company online for a 90 minute Zoom session. Hosted by Kate Farrington, Artistic Associate, these evenings explore the background of the play and playwright, audience members enjoy live performances by members of the Resident Acting Company as well as guest artists, and they always end with a Q&A session when the audience can join the conversation.  Tickets are already selling fast.

Rainy Day Productions will present industry readings of the new play Chasing the River by Jean Dobie Giebel. Directed by Illana Stein, the six-member cast will feature Tony Carlin, Aaron Costa Ganis, Annie Golden, Deborah Rayne, Chet Siegel, and Wendy Rich Stetson. The Pearl Theatre Company will add two weeks of performances to the world premiere production of Kate Hamill's Vanity Fair, which opened on April 28, 2017 and must close on May 27.

The Pearl Theatre Company is pleased to present the New York premiere of Stupid Fu**ing Bird, Aaron Posner's award-winning wry riff on Anton Chekhov's masterpiece The Seagull. Directed by Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's Artistic Director Davis McCallum, the production, running through May 8, scoops up Chekhov's tale of unrequited love, missed opportunities, and misplaced dreams and sets it down squarely in the bustle of 21st century life. With its rebellious title evoking Constantine's subversive play-within-a-play from the original, it captures the heartbreaking humor of the tale while playing as brilliantly with dramatic form as Chekhov himself once did.

When the charming weapons-manufacturer Andrew Undershaft goes toe-to-toe with his passionate daughter Barbara, a Major in the Salvation Army, over his 'ill-gotten' fortune, it leads to the wager of the century. She is determined to save his soul-he is determined to open her eyes to a wider world. Their confrontation will knock their entire family's moral compass up, down, and sideways, never to be the same again.
