Jon Patrick Walker BIO

Jon made his professional stage debut at the age of eight, and has been a working actor for twenty-five years, appearing in film, television, and on-and off-Broadway. In 2006, Jon portrayed Bruce Springsteen in the Broadway rock musical, High Fidelity. The following year, Jon appeared in a workshop staging of a new Pete Townshend rock opera, The Boy Who Heard Music. In 2010, Jon made his debut at Carnegie Hall, portraying one of his primary musical heroes, John Lennon, in Alarm Will Sound’s 1969. In the fall of 2015, Jon worked with another musical hero, David Byrne, in a workshop production of Mr. Byrne’s Saint Joan.
In the last five years, Jon has also been writing and recording music, re-igniting a passion formed in early childhood, when he was deeply influenced by the music of the Beatles, Paul Simon, The Who and Harry Nilsson, among many others. His debut album, filled with roots-y, hook-laden rock and roll, 2013’s The Guilty Party, was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and co-produced with Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Sleater-Kinney, Lambchop). Jon’s follow-up, “People Going Somewhere” (2016), was recorded in Brooklyn and was co-produced with Josh Kaufman, a much in-demand producer and player, who has worked with Bob Weir, Josh Ritter and Craig Finn, among many others.
Jon’s latest release, “You And I” (due May 11th, 2018), a six-song EP, was also co-produced with Kaufman, and features the amazing musical talents of Ray Rizzo (drums), Rene Hart (bass) and Kaufman (guitars, keys). The opening track, “Your Open Hand,” is a duet which features Jon’s wife, the actress Hope Davis. They live with their two children in Santa Monica, California. Jon was recently on the “Hamilton” National Tour, playing King George III.

Review: INVINCIBLE: THE MUSICAL At Wallis Annenberg Center For The Performing Arts

Misfiring on a lot of levels though it does, the production’s world premiere, directed by Tiffany Nichole Greene, has no shortage of electricity. Greene’s young and spirited ensemble pumps away to some quite familiar songs and to others that are less well-known.

BWW Review: The Smash Hit HAMILTON Opens At The Music Hall in Kansas City

The Tony Award-winning musical HAMILTON opened Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at the Music Hall in Kansas City and continues through Sunday, July 7. The American Theater Guild presents the smash Broadway musical featuring rap, jazz, blues, traditional-style show tunes, and hip-hop. Does it deserve all the attention it has garnered? The majority of the theater-goers, especially younger ones, will enthusiastically answer yes. While others, including myself, while recognizing the superb quality of the production and of the talent, will answer no. At times the lyrics are hard to understand, making the plot somewhat hard to follow.

HAMILTON: AN AMERICAN MUSICAL to Play at Orpheum Theatre

Memphis has its eyes on Hamilton as the second national touring cast plays Orpheum Theatre July 9-28.

BWW Review: HAMILTON Dazzles at Bass Concert Hall

There are a handful of musicals whose debuts changed the face of what musical theatre could be: Oklahoma, Company, West Side Story, Hair, A Chorus Line and now you can add to that list HAMILTON: AN AMERICAN MUSICAL. HAMILTON is an international sensation that appeared on Broadway in 2015 and is sung and rapped through with scant traditional dialogue. Inspired by the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by historian Ron Chernow about the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, it features music, lyrics and book by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The show incorporates hip hop, R&B, pop, soul, traditional-style show tunes, and color-conscious casting of non-white actors as the Founding Fathers and other historical figures. In 2016, HAMILTON received a record 16 Tony nominations, winning 11, including Best Musical, and was also the recipient of the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The prior Off-Broadway production won the 2015 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical as well as seven other Drama Desk Awards.

Review Roundup: HAMILTON: AN AMERICAN MUSICAL on Tour, What Did Critics Think?

Broadway blockbuster, 'Hamilton: An American Musical' now has multiple companies entertaining audiences across the U.S. Check out what the critics have to say about the productions in cities such as San Francisco, Orlando, Cincinnati and more in the reviews below.

BWW Feature: EDUHAM: OFFERING EVERY KID A SHOT! at Saenger Theatre

When Lin-Manuel Miranda set out to tell the story of how one person turned the world upside down and changed it forever, did he consider that he, himself was about to accomplish the very same thing-that is-change the world by changing the way we think about education itself? If we could actually 'rewind' time, some in academia might have chuckled at the very core of the EduHam program, an education program that presupposes that American History students can comprehend and retain complex materials through rap music. Sounds a little insane doesn't it?

BWW Review: HAMILTON Blows Us All Away at Saenger Theatre

"Hamilton" needs no introduction. If you are not walking around memorizing the lyrics and wearing "A.Ham" hats, then you know someone who is. Now, Hamilton brings the room where it happens to the New Orleans' Saenger Theatre.

BWW Review: HAMILTON Lives Up To The Hype The Straz Center For The Performing Arts

What more can be said about the juggernaut "Hamilton" that hasn't already been written? An ornate, elaborate leveled wooden backdrop and mobile staircases with minimal, simple set pieces and turntables floors showcased the exquisitely and insanely-talented lead actors and the equally-matched ensemble that brought each note to vivid life. The superb music - a blend of hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, and traditional Broadway tunes - was complemented by nearly nonstop, furiously-paced choreography.
