Jean Lichty, both an actress and producer, recently produced and played Hannah in La Femme Theatre's virtual presentation of The Night of the Iguana, directed by Emily Mann and featuring Dylan McDermott and Phylicia Rashad. Off-Broadway, she produced and played the title roles in A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur, featuring Kristen Nielsen and Annette O'Toole, A Loss of Roses with Deborah Hedwall, The Traveling Lady with Lynn Cohen and Karen Ziemba, and Nora with George Morforgen -- the latter two, co-productions with the legendary Cherry Lane Theatre, directed by Austin Pendleton -- after previously performing in The Moth's Mentors, Muses, and Monsters, Letting Billy, Newton's Wad, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Golden Boy, and The Einstein Doll. Collaborating with her mentor, Austin Pendleton, she brought A Loss of Roses to Arkansas Rep and Bus Stop to Olney Theatre Center. She also played the leads in the films, Close Call (Sundance Finalist) and Wanda's Visit. After graduating from Barnard College with Theater Honors, she trained with William Esper, Wynn Handman, and Larry Moss. She is the proud Founder and Executive Director of La Femme Theatre Productions, an all-inclusive theater company whose mission is to explore and celebrate the female experience in works from primarily the American canon that feature significant roles for women. Since its inception in 2013, La Femme has earned a number of accolades including a Drama Desk nomination for "Rocket to the Moon" and inclusion in the WSJ "The Best Theater of 2014" for "A Loss of Roses".
