Receiving its world premiere as part of Steppenwolf for Young Adults programming, Matthew Paul Olmos's A HOME WHAT HOWLS features moving performances and a haunting creative vision that make the most of an often frustrating script. It runs through March 2 at Steppenwolf's in-the-round Ensemble Theater.

16th Street Theater will give a free community performance of Melissa DuPrey's BRUJAJA directed by Miranda Gonzalez to kick-off the 2019 Pop Up New Play Reading Series. The Tashme Project: The Living Archives is an award-winning verbatim theatre piece that has been crafted from over 70 hours of interviews with 20 Nisei (second generation Japanese Canadians) from Vancouver, Toronto, Hamilton, Kingston, Ottawa and Montreal. Show creators /performers Julie Tamiko Manning and Matt Miwa are proud to be part of Centaur Theatre's Brave New Looks from Nov. 15-24, kicking off the national tour of this important show about the WW2 internment of Japanese Canadians. September marked the 30th anniversary of the Canadian Government's formal apology and the Japanese Canadian Redress Agreement, a historic landmark in the evolution of human rights in Canada. The play is an embodiment of Nisei character, language, spirit and story. There will be post show artist talks after each performance.

For its second offering of the season, Centaur Theatre brings another blockbuster to the stage. The 39 Steps, by British actor, comedian and playwright, Patrick Barlow, (Absolutely Fabulous, Bridget Jones's Diary, Shakespeare in Love) is an uproarious send-up of Alfred Hitchcock's film noire adaptation of the spy thriller, written by UK novelist, John Buchan. Eda Holmes directs the rollicking ride, her first turn at bat as Centaur's new Artistic and Executive Director.
