Hamid Dehghani

Hamid Dehghani is an Iranian director, playwright, and actor whose work is marked by emotional clarity, theatrical imagination, and a deep attention to human behavior. His recent U.S. directing credits include English at Goodman Theatre, Guthrie Theater, and Denver Center for the Performing Arts; Selling Kabul at Northlight Theatre; Baba at Amphibian Stage; and the world premiere of The Life You Gave Me at Boise Contemporary Theater. Before moving to the United States, Hamid worked professionally for more than a decade in Tehran’s theatre scene, where his directing credits included From the Environs of Milad, Sohrab’s Transgression, Nathan and Tabileth, and Leila. He is a 2025 Princess Grace Honoraria recipient and has received multiple directing, playwriting, and acting awards from international festivals in Iran. Hamid is a co-founder of Grass Studio Theatre and holds an MFA in Directing from Northwestern University and BA and MA degrees in Theatre Directing from Tehran University of Art.
